Title: Question on fletching crested carbon arrows....
Post by: graybarkhunter on May 02, 2013, 12:19:00 PM
I've done several searches and found out how I'm going to crest my Cx Heritages and was wondering if a super glue type adhesive , like Loctite or gorilla super glue, would work over a water based poly coat. Would it bleed thru the poly or "eat" away at it? If so, what other cement could I use on top of water based poly on top of carbons . Thanks

Duco is generally compatible with poly. Super glue will work if you're fast but I would recommend the gel versions over the liquid.

I had some problems with all kind of glues eating away the cresting. It almost drove me mad.
Then I moved over to fletch-tape. Never looked back!

I have gone to Saunder NPV/Arrow Mate for all of my fletching now.  I use bohning products when I make aluminums or carbons and Helmsman Spar Urethane on woodies.  The NPV has been great.

I use FletchTite Platinum and feathers over water based poly and never have any problems.
