finally, after pretty much a decade of putting up with a completely collapsed arch, plus dealing with a terminal parent, I was finally able to have the foot fixed by a doctor here in Wenatchee (WA). Dr. Tony Kim, took 5 1/2 hours of surgery, fused two joints, rebuilt a couple of tendons, cut my heelbone in half and shifted it over about a quarter inch and reattached it with what looks in the xrays like a couple of deck screws. I was a good boy throughout the convalescence, and it appears I'm fully recovered and finally able to walk without stepping on red-hot coals. Took my first real hike Sunday last with good results and NO pain! This means I can expect to hunt this fall for the first time in at least 10 years. So "hi, guys, I'm back in the forest"! This is probably the time to rein myself in so I don't try to make up for lost time, since I'm pushing 65. I look forward to seeing y'all, and hope that I'll meet some of you in person at Packwood coming up this Memorial Day weekend!
Awesome news. MIL just had her ankles fused and some arch work done
:archer:
AWESOME that you get back out and going again!
Enjoy your new feet !
I was told to behave myself or I'd be back on the table, but I have to say the best part of rehab was when they gave me one of those little 4-wheeled scooters to kneel on. hauling butt down the isles in Wal-Mart, screaming "wheeee wheeee wheee" like the Geico piglet was a real kick! :bigsmyl:
MIL had the same little scooter. They don't turn real sharp. :bigsmyl:
Great!
Congratulations. I have back issues and my wife is walking around with kenisiotape on her shoulder. Getting old is not for sissies. Good to know I have company!
Heck yes. make up for lost time. . . just . . do it carefully .
Good luck this fall.

Congrats on the successful rebuild! That self-portrait is hilarious! I don't think I've seen ones you kneel on... that had to be a picture for facebook!
Stay within your doc's limits so you're doing what you really want most come this fall...It will happen!
Great news! Have fun!

Alex how long was the rehab? I have a feeling that I may need the same thing. I think the bad foot has caused a bad knee. I keep hobbling around thinking as long as I can move I will be okay, but I would like to be able to move better.

That's awesome. I'm in the same (but to a much lesser degree) situation. My foot had been bothering me for months. FINALLY went to the doctor last week and I have a stress fracture in the ball of my foot. I'm wearing a "boot" for six weeks.
Got to get healed up or there won't be any Colorado this fall.
That's great to hear. Take care. God bless.
