What is the best, easy to use feather grinder? and where can I find one? Also any advice you guys could give on grinding feathers would be great.
Thanks guys!
Charlie
I do them by hand. Split the quill, cut to length, clamp in fletching clamp and sand smooth with a sanding block or belt sander.
I do it the same way Pat does. Quick and easy
Check the Resource Forum. 3Rivers sells the Great Northern unit. Always wear a quality face mask. The particles/dust from quills is bad for your lungs and health.
Seems to me I remember Rob or somebody did a 'how-to' on feather prep/grinding by hand. Aaah, yes, found it: http://tradgang.com/noncgi/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=2;t=000111;p=1
P@A archery makes a jig that's the best I've used. 3 rivers carries them or you can order direct from p&a
or you can make a jig.( see how to postings) depends on how meny feathers you plan to do or trade with Magnus for completed fletchings.
I forgot to add WHAT EVER METHOD YOU USE PLEASE USE A GOOD FILTER MASK TO PROTECT YOUR SELF! Breathing the feather dust is very bad for your health! I grind my own and use my filter mask every time!
Thanks for the info Guys!!! This is the best one of the best places on the web!!
