Our goal was to keep this going till be busted one MILLION dollars for the kids....and the economy has set us back a bit over the last few years or we would be real close to a million now.
I don't care what ya got....look around...see what you aren't using, don't need, don't like anymore.
Anything to raise a dollar for the kids.
I have a couple of items from an anonymous donor to list, a few other items and a hog hunt....
But I see very little interest this year.
The listings at this point are very disappointing to me....This is always such a fun time with lots of enthusiasm, guys razziing each other, folks talking about bidding on stuff....folks yakin it up.....but there seems to be all that good o'l boy stuff missing this year.
Has this effort run its course?
Stay the course!!!! Going digging in the basement right now. Joe
I've got some stuff, I'll take some pics and post it up :)
Your concern is a reflection of your leadership but don't worry "T" because we will do what we can.
Know that whatever funds we raise is more than they would have if we didn't do anything so my vote is that we stay the course.
Faith is the belief in things "not" seen.
Hang in Terry and we will hang in with you.
God bless you brother!
His servant, Mudd
Terry,
Just got back from hunting Nebraska turkeys with four other Trad Gangers. I know our group will be adding a bunch of items to the auction, just had to get the birds down first...tippit
I do not think it will ever run its course, anything we can raise is a plus and I think once it gets going you will see the enthusiasim is there. I am wresteling with a decision right now on something else to list. My brother's bow, he loved the auction so much and I just do not shoot the bow, but it was his and I am trying to decide if he would want me to put it up or just let it hang on the wall.
I think once the auction starts, there will be plenty of bantering and the spark will light Terry ..... and like Mudd said, we will all do our best. I do realize that it takes a lot to put together this auction, but stay the course Super T.
With the economy like it is, I don't see a banner year either, but our dedication to this cause will NEVER waiver.
Terry- I still have something to sell. I will post it in a bit. :bigsmyl:
I put some stuff on, looking around for more. I'm sure that there will be a burst last minute! It'll pick up
Thanks for the reminder to get me off my duff. I just listed 4 more items. I say don't quit yet!
-Jeremy :coffee:
I will be listing more items, 3 at least. Just gotta find a minute to get in the workshop.
More stuff from me is on the way....just having a bear of a time getting it pulled together.
Will get it posted as soon as possible
It hasn't run its course. For many it'll be their first one. Only my third.
I won't list as much this year as shipping last year got me and I'd rather be on the buying end this time. I'm holding out for the bidding part :) .
Looking forward to many years of this.
X2 on the shipping, but I knew better when I listed a full body turkey decoy. My stuff is on the way......clearing through the clutter and making a pile.
Okay, got lots to sell, need to find get it together. What are the deadlines, again? :notworthy:
Will post up a few things this evening that are taking up space and need a new home. I don't need the money as much as the kids.
One of our fellow Trad Gangers died of cancer last year, Ralph,"Biff" Moore. His girlfriend dropped a bunch of his stuff off at my house after he died, mostly books. He was into cowboy history and had a mighty fine collection of books of this nature which I will be posting on the auction as well as some archery related books. Just haven't taken the pictures yet so I can post the items.
Going to the camp this weekend, I'll round up some stuff
Terry, is there a way to send out an "email" to all the Tradgang members to let them know it's time for the auction?
I have some stuff to get posted myself, just have to find/make the time!!
Benjy
Terry, From the looks of the Pow wow, there's a lot of new bows being bought.
Hopefully these guys saved a few bucks for the auction.
I am planning on listing an item or two. These kids deserve a chance.
Fell on hard times and sold a bunch of stuff to stay afloat for a minute, but I'm digging through stuff to list if I'm not too late. Things are looking up now for a change. I have two girls and cannot imagine how life would be without them.
Keep this up top and let's do what we can to help these families! Rich or broke, we can all help!
Yeah Bengy....but when we do that....some folks email us that they don't want us to...even though they checked to box to get notifications from us.
I think its worth a shot...even if someone gets mad....more important if a kid gets well.
This is my first year to be involved and I am proud and honored to be part of such a great cause.
If someone gets mad because they get an email reminder, could be because they know deep inside that they should be donating, or better yet, bidding the items up to the max!
Thanks for all the hard work, and looking forward to helping in my small way to blow this thing past the $ 1 million mark!!
Snapped some pics of some items other day, should be up tonight.
Great cause and appreciate the work that goes into it.
Eric
Just listed some killer books for the readers! :campfire:
I am in the process of moving some arrows from the classifieds to the St. Judes auction. Will be listing some other things as well thanks for the wake up Terry. TD.

I agree!!!
Ahhh, things appear to be heating up on the listing forum. This is more like it. Everybody on here has something that can be put up for bids--every little bit helps in big ways.
TTT!
Guess I'm confused. The listing forum says for listing only. Where are we supposed to be razzing each other??

Right here!!
Then everyone can join in.......lol

Oh, you will find out reeeeeeal soon!!!!! :readit: Trust me.
I'm one of those last minute guys. Whats the deadline to list date again? I have to tend to a redhead tooth puller this weekend then I'll get to it next week.
The Jarhead doesn't do well with numbers unless it's kill ratios.
Don't worry, we won't let you forget!
That's better...you guys are lifting me up a bit....I got to get couple of items from an anonymous donor myself....time...need more time.
Thanks Guys.... :campfire:
Yep, there's less participation than just a few years ago but I'd agree with Mudd - lesser donations are still good. I put a couple of good hunting bows in there this year because this is one of only very few efforts that are really meaningful. I brag to folks about the heart of traditional archers. I'm sure I'm only one of many who look forward to this each year. If there is anything I can do to help keep the auction an annual event, please let me know. I've volunteered for years assisting in the disability community and this is really a great effort. So seriously, I'll help if I can.

Yep
I am crying "Uncle!"....lol
So far I have received 5 noreply e-mails from Tradgang.
Don't take me too seriously, I'd rather get it a few dozen times than have anyone miss out on their opportunity to give for the sake of the children.
Godd job "T" !!... Keep it up!!
God bless,Mudd
So how do I place my bid? :dunno:

You have to wait for the auction to start. It'll be a few more weeks and the fun will intensify.

This has not run its course. It will never have run its course as long as there are diseases that attack our children.
The needs remain the same, the membership, like the human population, fades and renews, but is a constant. If the economy, or personal challenges cause a slump, then we will have an upturn when things improve, or the membership rejuvenates. But to bemoan and predict the cessation of our efforts is beneath us, and lacking the optimism that is part and parcel of being a bowhunter who welcomes the challenge of traditional equipment.
I am facing a few challenges, but believe in the spirit of the people who frequent this site. And any little bit that we might add are more than what existed before we walked this path.

I have a few more things

My feelings exactly Killdeer, well said.
Not THAT well said. Should be "bits are" instead of "bit are".
Killdeer
Good to hear from you Killie!
Thought you might still be lookin' for a lost arra in the bushes....
Keep the wind in your face!
Shoot straight, Shinken

Technacality.Maybe I should have said well spoken. :knothead:  May your troubles be few my friend. God Bless
Yeah....Rob got Trigger Happy with the emails I think!!! :biglaugh: :biglaugh: :biglaugh:
I have received an estimated grand total of 8 emails from Tradgang Admin (4 from today :wavey: ) in the 7 years I've been on Tradgang. The other 4 telling of technical difficulties etc.
Most of us get enough junk emails in one day to choke a horse. So sending an IMPORTANT email should be a non-issue. Keep up the good work.
Thanks Guys n Gals.....the items have doubled since I started this thread.....
:notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy:
This thread does this po' ol' heart a world of GOOD!
I don't keep my head in any one game too much these days, so I missed the beginning "pitches", I guess. The other day, when I got those e-mails from Trad Gang (Thank you, Rob for the wake-up call) about the opening and closing dates for the bid forums, I said, "Holy St. Jude Auction, Batman, is it that time again already?"
IT IS! IT IS!
I wouldn't miss THAT unless I was on my last legs, and I'm not. Fortunately I "gather" little goodies throughout the year to put up for bids toward helping the children of St. Jude - things I hope will tickle folks fancy, and cause them to bid (feverishly) for the kids.
Now all I have to do is get my butt in gear, take pics of the stashed goodies (and whatever else I come across in the depths of my "Glory hole Room") and get them ready to post and add to the growing list y'all good players are speaking of above. First though I will go eyeball the pre-auction listing of items and see what goodies are coming out of other members ditty bags and sink holes.
Remember PLEASE, that any and all items will help and any and all donations of items, bids, cash donations, and your/our precious time, however insignificant they may seem to you, will help the cause and final total gift to St. Jude and it's outstanding work for the Children.
God bless you all, God bless us all - ONWARD AND UPWARD FOR THE KIDS!!! :clapper:
Thank you again, TRADGANG, for this sterling annual effort and space/time in the forums.
.........................
Got about half of my photos taken yesterday - but week end coming up may produce even more additions to the list. Hope to get items posted during first of next week BUT they will be up (with some of the usual small items to allow more to bid "something" and at least get in on the fun by jacking things up - LOL) before opening bids - Good Lord willing - TRUST ME! :goldtooth:
i truly apologize for some of you that received more than a few of the shotgun emailing that took place a few dayze ago.
this was the second mass emailing we've ever done at trad gang. did one many years ago when the membership was a fraction of what it is today, and there were some technical problems sending out over 38000 emails in one fell swoop. mostly got hung up on bad email addresses, which i fixed during the process.
anyhoo, like terry and others have said, we don't mind taking heat from a few disgruntled members if it means helping out just one sick child.
so far 19 very unhappy members have emailed us and either wanted to be removed from the "admin mailing list" or wanted to be removed as a trad gang member. i have obliged all requests.
with that said, most folks who register never really read through all of the registration info and don't realize that they can simply edit their profile and click a box to opt out of receiving any and all admin emails.
ok, back to the auction!
19 out of 38,000??????????????
I wish our government would be so efficient and have that small percentage of complaints.
I got a few more things listed and still have to look around for other things.
biddy up...looking forward to the 19th.
Rob you guys rock!!!!!!!
Keep it up!!!!!!!
God bless,Mudd

I feel sorry for those 19....it's really difficult and sooooooooo time consuming to hit the
delete button.
Back to the auction for sure - if they got upset about that they are not needed anyway. As someone else mentioned early - I think their main problem is a guilty conscience for being that cold-hearted, or just plain too damned touchy to worry about IMO.
I really am astonished that any of our members would complain over receiving the emails....Terry/Rob....let us know who they are....will cut their string silencers off their bows!
I for one appreciated the email, I don't always check all my favorite sites but I do check my email. Now off to go see what items I my need.

Rob,I feel tempted to say "Good riddance".....tempted but I won't.
I was not the least upset at getting a few reminders of one of the best things I am involved in all year long!
I got a few. No biggie! My delete finger is a little achy but I will be ok. ;)
Four emails, that is a problem? The kids face much bigger problems.
How about it!!!
Those children are the ones who are suffering and we have a chance to help make things better for them and all the ones to come in the future.
God bless,Mudd
My bad Mudd.....but some sure didn't show Rob grace when they emailed him.
If deleting a couple of emails from your inbox is something to seriously complain about, then I have nothing but sorrow for those individuals!
It's a shame life should be so complicated!
Terry/Rob and the rest, you guys are outstanding and I commend you for your diligence and efforts for all things of the sight and for the kids!!! :notworthy: :clapper:
Thanks for the thought provoking post Terry.
The "Arrows of Tradgang" have just been listed.
BTW, who's in charge of cigar acquisitions, there's always a good stogie or two listed?? ;)
Hey Ray...read your listing. They'll go for AT LEAST $100. I'll make sure of that ;)

Wow, i get all kinds of emails from groups I'm not a memeber of period.
To the whiners... :wavey: see ya...
Computer "musical chairs" with a new, old, and older one (which will be given to a neighbor's adult niece with limited resources) - trying to get everything all set up and re-functioning - has interrupted my good intentions on taking the photos of the rest of my items. I WILL get to it and get them finished and posted soon though.
Whew! Finally got all the pics taken and uploaded to FB - at least of the items "gathered" . I'll get those up (listed) and then perhaps see if there is more stuff around here that needs to be included too.
If they get upset, they will get over it.
You know what they say about the road to hell and good intentions ;) !
Keeping it fresh in front of the WHOLE membership is critical in making this the success that it is and that it can be!
Thanks Terry!
I'll drink to that!
Got my listings started this AM (how about you?) - but I can see it's gonna be a long day - LOL
Not quite half done - doesn't usually take this long, just lots of things going on/interrupting - LOL

Create a "new topic" (thread) in the
listing forum.
Then the mods will move it to one of the four
bidding forums.
When the auction closes the mods will post who won on that thread. They will in turn later post when payment is rec'd. Then get with the winning bidder thru PM and get it shipped to them.
Read here Chief:
http://tradgang.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=127833
thanks guys big help!
Finally got all of my (initial - LOL) listings up (unless I find some others before bidding starts on the 19th) Never had so many things to hold up my listings as I have this year. Everything from computer shiftings to stopped up sinks - LOL
ARE YOU SURE YOU HAVE LISTED ALL YOU CARE TO? just saying ... :D :jumper:
Did get around to finding three more little items to post - there's always something else around - if you have time. :archer:
Have you looked at all the goodies up for auction in the St. Jude Auction bid forums - now that the bids are open??? check all four forums and all 3 pages of each, PLEASE :goldtooth:
I was checking out the bid forums last night and was proud and pleased to see almost all the items have at least one bid on them (still a few "empties" left though). However I was a little sad (but very proud) to see that mostly it was an awful lot of bids placed by the same old stalwarts that carry this effort so well for us.
Please, if you haven't looked yet, make it a point to at least look in on it, and be aware. The kids of St. Jude Research Hospital need and deserve our support so very much. Remember: The whole of Trad Gang gets the credit (and the blessed feeling) for helping St. Jude and the children in this once a year effort. Please see if there isn't some little corner open where you can make your weight (of whatever type or size) felt also - every little bit helps. Even if it's only in encouraging (goading) the others :goldtooth: :jumper:
If at all possible, your help is needed so badly this year.
Bernie
Year after year you impress me with your many generous donations and adamant cheerleading for this charity auction.
You are an inspiration Sir!
:clapper: :clapper: :clapper:
Thank you so much, Bel007. If that is so, I am just one of many but it is very thoughtful of you to say so.

I gotta second that. Last year I won one of Bernie's items and have bid on some this year. Winning one of Bernie's items will become a tradition for me.
X2 on Bernie (although he is one of a few equally devout to the cause), he's the man! Three cheers for Bernie, literally ........

Bless you all, bless us all, as we try our best to help the children fight their battles at St. Jude. They all seem to be so brave - could we be that brave? We can only hope for as much courage, and do whatever we can to help encourage them..
Here is a brand new little video to add interest to the musical items up for bids on the 4 bid forums of this years St. Jude Auction:

One last sweep before tonight (Tuesday) final bid forum bidding.
