Title: A New Thunder Child
Post by: Marc B. on April 28, 2013, 03:23:00 PM
A couple of years ago after meeting Big Jim and looking over his bows at the last ATAR I ordered my first Buffalo. I had been wanting to try a Thunder Child. Well last weekend at NCTAR Big Jim was set up with his wares and I tried out a couple of Thunder Childs. The first was a 56" T/D all bocote that was a looker but number 2 just "fit". Its a 58" shedua riser with eucalyptus limbs. It didn't have beaver tail wrap on it but I really liked the feel.

I talked to Big Jim about wood combos and felt like I would put in another order and get on the list.

On the way back home I started really thinking I should have bought that bow. I agonized  over it Sunday and Monday talked to rbcorbitt about it....   :banghead:  Bob has bought a bow or 6 here lately    ;)

Tuesday I called Big Jim asked him to put a beaver tail wrap on it and send her to me. It arrived yesterday while I was turkey hunting. My wife told the mailman she was going to hide it from me but she didn't    :D

Here she is:

Do I see a small crack on the riser on the 2nd pick or is it something else????

Its not a crack and there is nothing there now. It must have been a piece of bark or something that fell off.

Thanks Keith. I've tried other short bows and they haven't worked out. I've started out better with this one than any of the ones before.

That Eucalyptus is stunning Marc!

The TC is a great bow.  Love mine.  It sounds like that other one is probably the sister to the all bacote one I have.

Us VA guys may need to have a Thunderchild hunt!  LOL

I'm with Boyd.  That bow should obviously have been a lefty!    :biglaugh:

Talking to Bob Corbitt about whether you should buy a bow is like asking Col. Sanders if you should have poultry for dinner.
