My family and I just returned from a great vacation in Montana. I got to visit and make some damascus steel with Doug Campbell one afternoon while my son (Zach) & son-in-law (Matt) enjoyed the ranch fly fishing.
After Doug showed me around his work shop...my Xmas list grew by leaps and bounds :scared: Doug quickly dispatched it with a big rock and cut off the head while it was biting his boot. I did get to see how far a rattler can strike in between rocks...now where did I put those snake boots for next years Sweat  Doug was kind enough to let me skin it and bring it back east.
Doug gave us a tour of the ranch and Karen cooked up a wonderful dinner all of us when my wife (Molly) and daughter (Jessie) returned. Just a great day and another way tradgang brings friends together.
Just a side light as to what tradgang does for you. When Molly and I decide to take our family to a ranch. Both Doug and Vance gave some great suggestions of where to go. Nothing better than local knowledge of what is good and what to stay away from.

Vance, If I could find a nice little place that backs up to Natl Forest Land, I would be sorely tempted. Heck all my metal surface wouldn't rust like back East :banghead: Doc
Vance, Only problem is I think I need a draft horse to haul my anvil around. This little guy had enough trouble just gettin' me around :biglaugh: Doc

Tippit,
Your thought on what the TradGang is all about are right on cue.....glad to see you're living the dream!
Yep, I couldn't agree more Doc, from all appearances you just walked in off a rangling job somewhere and are looking for a promotion to Blacksmith!
Those are really some great pictures of a nice looking family!
Very cool Jeff  The mountains are addicting by themselves, and to be able to visit good friends in the middle of them is priceless!
The wild bunch rises again.Nice pics.Kip

Nice pics Doc! Looks like y'all had a great time.
I'm jealous of that anvil... makes my stake anvil look ridiculous! My father and a buddy are building a power hammer based on plans from Appalachian Blacksmith. If it works for them, you interested in the plans?
Sounds like you and your family had a pretty nice trip Jeff, thanks for sharing it with us.......I agree with everyone else too, you do look like a natural out there...
David
Gary, Good to hear from you. Hope you're feelin' better. PS...When your my age, you don't have to refer to Gary as Mr Kellar or Pops
Vance, That was Molly's sister in Texas ;)
Jeremy, I sure would like the plans. That power hammer is something else!
Great pics Doc, I got a colt I'd like 30 days on, OK? ;)
Doug & Karen are just it in my book

Hey Jeff we really enjoyed visiting with you and your wonderful family. My only regret is you were only able to spend one afternoon here. Just imagine what we could have accomplished in a couple days ;)
