Well, after pestering Dan Toelke, Idaho Curt, and Mike and Denise at Rosewood Archery about veneers and riser materials, I finally made a decision on materials. But first I must say, these folks are some of the finest and most patient people I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with.

SWEEEEEET!!! Dan builds an awesome bow! In fact, he is building me a 2 pc Whip right now. Can't wait to see the finished product. Please post those pics.

What are you getting for woods Scott?
Juniper limb veneers and cocbolo accents at the riser. He will only make the riser with black linen micarta and adds the cocobolo at the heel, thumbrest, and shelf. Should be interesting. I sent him a tracing of my bow hand so he could stretch it abit. Dan is just a great guy. Good luck with yours.

The true beauty of Dan's bows is how they shoot! But, it sure doesn't hurt for them to be pretty. Congrats and can't wait for the pics.
Nice looking wood there. Dan is making me another classic whip now as well. 64" 51#@28" (I draw 30") Macassar ebony riser (a piece of #2 in your picture) with curly myrtle veneers (not sure which one, just told him the pieces with most curl would work). I believe Dan said he'd be using a beaver tail grip as well. I'll post pics when she comes in...Mike

Got a super D on order with the same combination except the riser will be cocobolo as well. The Juniper is killer on my Whip!
Man o man. Dan is going to make one heck of a gumbo with those ingredients.

So I get to come back to the club Gary??? :readit: :biglaugh:
Whips are the SHIZNIT!!!!
And Dan is a man who under promises and over delivers... I used to want a few other bows... But now I just would order another whip out of different woods... just for the aesthetics...
I can hardly wait to see his creation from a beautiful choice of woods!!!
Cocobolo and bacote are 2 of my favorites. Really nice. I would use them more if I didn't need a haz-mat suit to sand them:)
My latest Toelke was a Super D but with the less expensive no nonsense black glass option. He put a nice piece of Texas Ebony as the riser and surprised me with a Beavertail grip. My other Super D has the most beautiful wavy grain Tex Ebony riser with clear glass over Myrtle veneers. Both bows are shooters. Those are some good lookin' Ds Todd. I would love to try them someday as well. That black glass looks pretty tough, especially sportin' that beaver tail!!
Juniper limbs veneers on my TD whip...nice stuff

Man Richard, those are two phenomenal looking whips! Love that bocote, very nice!!
Unreal!!! Its amazing how fast they can turn-out a quality bow. Congrats!!!
wow beautiful
I just got my third chinook. I really liked the whip, but the chinook won my heart. The last is a 2011 bow with stunning juniper veneers and tulipwood riser. I never tire of looking at their bows!
