Title: Hoyt Dorado + AMS bowfishing rig???
Post by: shag08 on April 22, 2013, 11:14:00 PM
Hello Folks. I've been looking forward to doing some bowfishing this spring traditional style. So I ordered the AMS bowfishing kit from 3Rivers. I was wanting to put it on my Hoyt Dorado because its the only bow I own with sight holes drilled into the riser.

Well the kit came in today and I proceeded to attempt to mount it. It mounts right into the sight bracket holes but.....it sits to high for me to grip the trigger. It would work perfect with the top hole for the AMS mount bolted into the bottom hole on the riser...but that is too loose for me to ever trust it.

Has anybody else tried this set up and made it work? Any info would be greatly appreciated. If I have to, I could buy the strap on mount and put it on one of my old, rough Ben Pearson bows. I'd say I would be money ahead to do that and save my Dorado from the hell of bowfishing. But It is the one I had in mind to use. Thanks alot for your time.

Maybe just some good tape with the one screw.
You never fight the fish with the AMS so it should be strong enough.

Yeah I had thought of some tape or maybe a zip-tie. The bottom hole lines up with one of the cut-aways in the riser too. So I'm also considering using a longer screw and making up a plate with a threaded hole so it will "bolt right up." That would hold it there for sure...but I'm afraid if it sticks out any it would mess with my sight picture. Still kinda up in the air over it.

Thanks for your time and reply.
