Got my new Vixen Sat. Wow! James really does nice work. James is a master bowyer for sure. This bow is all you could ask for in a Hill-style bow. I'm a recurve shooter at heart but I,m lovin it. I've owed this style of longbow in the past, but the Vixen far exceededs what I had before. I'ts dead in the hand and it spits an arrow out with authority. James is top notch, a good guy all around. The bow has black glass on the back and clear on the belly, revealing the yew lams. It has boo cores. Draws smooth and hits hard, what more could you ask for.Its 50@28 and 66in. with a staight grip. I've been trying to post pics but I'm not having any luck so far. Greg, if you email them to me at brianlocal@yahoo.com
I'll post them for you.
I absolutely love my Vixen. It is, IMHO, the perfected straightlimbed longbow. They have everything you could ever want in a straight stick. But I love my whole Berry Harem

Absolulty Stunning bow Greg. James has the prettiest yew wood in the industry!!!!!! I can not get over the looks of her. And great choice with Colored Back and Clear belly, my favorite combo!!!
Incredibly gorgeous bow, love those D longbows!! That is some good looking Yew as well. Congrats! :clapper:
Thanks Brian for posting the pics. That yew James uses is gorgeous, could'nt see covering it up completely. I actually paterned this bow after a Death Wish that your familiar with Brian.
I agree with the others. That is some of the nicest yew that I have seen.
Nice bow and congrats, they are on my short list for a new bow.
Beautiful bow! Congrats and love the yew.
I've got my heart on one of James Argos in 68" and 40# but, it's just a dream for now.
:archer:
Beautiful bow!
Great looking bow.....congrats..
Wow that is a beauty.
Awesome looking!! Fantastic looking Yew!
Great lookin' longbow!
Is that riser wood also yew?
Enjoy!
Shoot straight, Shinken
:archer2:
Shinken, the riser wood is Brazilian walnut. It may be hard to tell from the pics, but it has some dark streaks running through it. It matched up real nice with the yew.
Oh man thats a beauty. Since i have got my second vixen its the only bow i have shot. I love it. James does some of the finest work
That's a great looking Hill Style longbow. Have you decided what arrows you will be shooting?
hawaii,
I've been experimenting with what I have. 2016,2018,35/55GT,woods they all flew decent, but the 2018s flew the best with the GTs a very close 2nd. I have'nt had a chance to bare shaft test any so far.
WOW! That is a beauty. I have my Vixen shooting GT 3555's with weight tubes and weed whacker wire to make them pretty heavy (over 600 grns). She seems to love the heavy arrows.
Have fun!

I held that bow at the morning coffee table at Jame's place. I wanted to keep it, I told James my birthday was coming up. Is answer was "so".
Aloha Soap Creek,
I talked to James about your bow, I liked the darker limb wood when it fades into the riser & he said that he did some slight changes to the Vixen design to get more limb action and your bow is the first. I am a little jealous because your bow is a little faster. I have a Vixen on order for target & 3D shoots and when he builds the bow it will be with the updated design like yours. Don't talk to James too long because he has talked me out of the Vixen since I have one to a Morning Star.
Mahalo & Good Shoot'n,

I was pleasantly suprised at how quick my Vixen was. I dont notice much difference between it and my recurve. I'm sure there is probably some but not much. That speaks well of James design.
