Was working on a 2 story deck on tuesday and the darn thing collapsed! It seemed as though my arm just hurt from the fall, being that im a slender 220 and I landed on it. Well finally after being a stubborn redneck for two days I went to the doc this morning and it seems that I have fractured my elbow in two places. Doc said i need to keep it in a sling for 4 weeks and do physical therapy at home to keep it loose. So much for killing my first turkey and I aint using no scatter gun! Thanks for listening to my rant
Nick
Bummer dude! It will go fast. Just be thankful it wast during hunting season!
That shooting can wait. Just take care of it and get healthy. I wish ya a speedy recovery.
Sorry to hear...sounds like it could of been worse though...take care and get well.
I'm sorry to hear that you're hurt Nick.
I'll be praying for a quick and complete recovery.
How you handle this down time can have far reaching affects so follow your Dr's advice.
God bless,Mudd
Sorry to hear that, listen to your doc and don't take any shortcuts!!!
Follow doctors advise, couple years ago was on 30 day no heavy lifting, no more that 20lbs, Dr said not shooting...turkey season started at day 32, I was out there but not shots on toms....heal up...get well...do your physical therapy..
Thanks for all of your thoughts and prayers gang, I appreciate it! Now I gotta dig out some books to keep my mind busy.
Haven't shot since January. Rotator cuff surgery on the right shoulder Feb 22nd...started PT last week 3x a week. Won't be able to shoot RH or LH until July. Even then I'll be starting out with 30# bows.
Take your injury serious and your PT even more serious and you will be fine. follow doctors orders and don't push it.
Look at the bright side, it will heal in a relatively short time and could have been much worse. Good luck. I am in the middle of a layoff from epicondylitis so I feel your pain.
Hey, take care of it so you can still enjoy later. I feel your pain also after an injury last fall. I always shoot but I couldn't for a couple of months. But I can now and so will you again. Patience!!!! Hard to be tho :banghead:
It happens follow you Doc's orders. I cut the end of my finger last Dec. 8 and my doc told me June 1 before I could start shooting, although I might cheat a little when our turkey season starts.
Thank Care

Learn to shoot with your foot holding the bow between your big toe and your monkey toe. Think I am kidding, it works. Shawn
I know it seems like torture but I would still got out after them even if you can't shoot. You can't get too much practice with turkeys. Put your whole setup out call them in I would even bring the bow up on one. That way if there are any tweaks that need to be worked out on your setup , placement, movement at the moment etc at least you discover them before next year when you are ready to nail them. Anyway do what you can
Hang in there man! Heal fast and TRY to be patient. Been on "light duty" myself once, tough break. Best wishes!
Four weeks will be over before you know it. I couldn't shoot for a whole YEAR due to elbow tendinitis!
Alot of guys & gals have had to go though similar things.I had neck surgery a couple years back and had to miss spring bear season. It really sucks, but the main thing is to heal and hit the therapy hard and religiously. That stuff really does work.
Hope you heal fast.
I'm in the same boat too. Keep up with your homework and you'll be ready in no time.
Be thankful your injuries were not worse. I wish you quick healing!!
ouch! do the rehab!!!
Well the elbow is feeling better and the swelling has gone down but the pain is still there. I needs to put my hills in a closet or something! T- minus 14 days and counting. hey at least I can still mushroom hunt mmmmmm
