Title: Heritage
Post by: Scattergun2570 on April 18, 2013, 01:28:00 AM
I was thinking of getting my first set of carbons. I have been shooting 1916 Legacy`s which have served me quite well.I need some opinions on which shaft to select. I shoot a 45lb Martin Savannah drawing about 28". My Legacys are about 29 1/2" with 140grains up front.  I was thinking that the Heritage 75 is about right. I am basing this on the 75 being a 0.611 Spine..and the Legacy is 0.623. Any thoughts?

Yep, I think the 75s will be good for you.

I don't know about ones that light, but I can vouch for the quality of these shafts.

I'm new to archery, so I'm certainly no expert on this subject, but for what it's worth, here's what I've got...

My draw is somewhere between 26.5 and 27".  My bow is 48@28, so I'm right around the same draw weight as you.  I just recently bought a Toelke Whip and Dan, who I have been told knows his stuff, told me to go with CX Heritage 90s cut to 28" and 140grain points.  I'm still working on my form, so I haven't bothered doing any tuning/testing, but I did recently take a 2 day class with Rod Jenkins and he agreed that my setup was in the ballpark.

I don't know if I'm right about this, but it seems like it would be easier to weaken the 90s, if that was necessary, rather than stiffen the 75s.

The 75s are The way to go leave them At 29"s you may need even a tad more weight up front! SHAWN

Im shooting 150s with 100 grain brass and 180- grn points from my 46# and 47# bows and they fly like lazers. Good grain per pound set up and will really make a bow quiet.

Yup, that is 280 grains of point weight Izzy is shooting. That may be Overkill buddy, but I am sure it blows thru most everything you shoot!!(LOL!)Shawn
