Could somoeone explain to me the difference in the asbell grip as compared to the regular grip on a black widow bow? thanx again guys and gals.
You can search on here...and get some info, as well as on the widow wall.
In a nutshell, it has a more pronounced palm swell, and the thumb relief cutout on the right side of the bow (as you draw it, assuming you're right-handed), is lower, supposedly forcing your thumb lower.
This is supposed to exert a different pressure on your hand/grip form, in order to allow a more natural "pointing" aspect to the bow when it is canted.
I have also read the grip is "higher" than the standard grip, but I am not sold on that yet, and G. Fred did not say that in his description about the grip on the widow wall.
That said, the PMA I have coming has the Asbell grip...
Take Care,
Marc
I'd like to see pictures of both, side by side. Been reading about them for years but never met G. Fred grip in person. :bigsmyl:
Here you go now you can see the difference.

I have never shot a Black Widow with the Asbell grip but it is more comfortable to me just picking one up. Joseph
I have shot them both ways, I would want the Asbell grip on mine.
Travis,
I have two PSA's, one with standard grip, the other with Asbell. The Asbell grip is superior at least for me. Basically, there's just a little more handle to grab hold of than with the standard. The Asbell grip fits tighter in my hand. I notice this espeically on hot days when my palms are sweating. In addition, the Asbell turns my bow hand thumb down slightly to better match the natural canting of my bow arm. The Asbell grip makes me just a tad bit more accurate, too!
When I ordered mine it was a simple choice. The Asbell grip just fit my hand better than the standard. I therefore got the Asbell grip on my PSA and have enjoyed it.

I have a SAV with the regular grip, and a new TFX with the Asbell grip. I like the Asbell grip better, not that the regular is bad. The Asbell seems to fit my hand better.
I have both and cannot really tell much difference since both work for me. If I had only one choice, I'd pick the regular version.
I have both, and perfer the Asbell.
