Got a new bow in Feb. and still haven't got to shoot it outside long enough to do a decent job of tuning. Will spring never get here? Should be looking for sheds instead of blowing snow!   :dunno:

My daughter lives on South Turtle and she still has two feet of snow on her yard and more to come. She is really sick of it and my grandson is chomping on the bit to get out and do some shooting.  Last year the sun woke up from its cycle, but it burnt off to much energy and now we are back into a quiet sun and global cooling. Where is the great Al when we need his global warming schtick. Back in the early 90s our global warming from our carbon emissions was so bad that it started to melt the Marcian ice caps. Those were the good old days.

Hate it for you guys..... wisb I could send you some of the pushing 80 temps we are having now....    :thumbsup:

Yeah, got the same problem here, Turkey season just opened yesterday and I had to work this weekend and tomorrow and we are supposed to have snow starting tonight and go through my two days off so I won't be able to go til next weekend. We really need the moisture though so can't complain.

We just got 4-5" last nite w/ a few more forecast for today and tonite.    :(    

I got up this morning and everything was covered with the white crap again!! Getting sick of it!   :(    :confused:    :(    :readit:

Mn. fishing opener is only 4 weeks away. As far as I know all lakes are frozen, many with over 2'or more of ice!!

I do like winter weather but it's spring now. Time to move over old man winter.

The open land around me was almost snow free, a little left in the woods and piles from plowing but otherwise almost gone by last Wednesday.  Then we got around a foot or so on Thursday and it's been snowing off and on since.  It's snowing lightly right now...    :banghead:  

I did sneak out yesterday evening and even though the temperature was just over freezing there was little wind and the sun was out.  Snow was melting and I had arrows in the air.  I don't like wearing Carhartt bibs and a fleece jacket this time of year though.  Spring has to get here eventually.  Unfortunately it will probably last one or two days and then I'll be complaining about 85 degrees and humid...    ;)

Well guys, I know one thing, there isn't enough room in Florida for all of us!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, we are expecting another 3-6 inches with 50mph gusts today.  This is on top of the 20+ inches we got last week.

I dare not complain as the moisture is truly a godsend.  We have been in a pretty severe drought going on two years now.

We were down to grass in most places, then we go about a foot of new snow. Just before it hit, I ditched the bag target I had been shooting and got some hay bales:

I kind of screwed up by getting them, though, because as soon as my wife got a whiff of the hay, it reminded her of her childhood when she had a horse, and now she wants to get one! I said no way, but if she needed to be around hay and horses, she could get a PT job at a stable!   :)  

BTW: I added extra twine around a bales in case I slipped arrow between the bales, though I think  I shouldn't have too much of a problem breaking the twine as I'm using Chubbie Bunnie points. The rounded point should be less likely to catch on the twine than regular field points.

This winter has just dragged on and on. I don't have your snow problem, although it's snowing great big flakes right now. Ground's too warm for it to stay. Yesterday I was supposed to go to a side x side shoot and had planned to take my old English hammer gun. 30+ mph winds, rain and snow. I stayed home. Thank goodness I have an indoor range I can go to on Friday evenings. I see anyone doing a snow dance and he's dead!

Try a couple of ratchet straps to cinch them down and compress the hay, makes them nice and tight.  If you can find straw bales when those wear out, straw works even better than hay and won't remind your wife of horses...   :D

Forgot to mention that I secured the bales with ratcheting straps.

My next project is to fabricate a rotating base so I don't have to shoot cross wind when the wind direction changes.

picking up some bales myself my neighbor just did a target like that! We here in Northern mi got about 6in last Thurs and Fri warmed up a lot sunday hopefully thats it! winter jut seems to be dragging this year did get to shoot my new Tribute Bama longbow at some 3D targets yesterday! 45 and sunny for a change!

I live in southern Michigan now, BUT I remember what it was like in NORTHERN Michigan when winter would not let go....some days it just seemed like too much to handle.

My wife has a home video of me in a rant after a mid April snowstorm...I sound like a three yr old throwing a fit and all...as if it would help in any way!

Well at least I don't have to worry about lawn work!  Might be able to hunt turkeys without without tick dope!  Just trying to look at the bright side   :dunno:    :dunno:    :dunno:    :dunno:

I remember the late spring a few years ago, the first week not one tick anywhere. Then it got warm and I had one exposed patch of wool sock, that was shiny with a solid blob of dozens of ticks.

I moved from upstate NY to SC about 4 years ago and I don't miss the snow at all. My hunting opportunities have doubled. There is always something to hunt here and you can fish almost all year round too

They say we could get up to a foot again tomorrow. It's becoming a every 2 day occurrence. Ready for spring but we will take the moisture.

We weren't supposed to get any snow tonight.  So far at least four inches.  We'll see what it is by morning.

I feel your pain! I live about 10 miles from a area that is notorious for heavy snow. We still get our share. The famous saying around here is "I think summer last year fell on a Saturday in June". Sometimes it sure seems that way. Not sure why they even sell pools around here sometimes.

I got home last week after three months in Arizona; it has snowed every day but one since I got back, and the turkeys (the reason I came back in April) have been silent and elusive. It is easy to remember why I go to Arizona when I look out the window right now.
