Are the GK silver flames the same as the ABS ones and just packaged under a different name or are there distinct differences?
They are not the same! I wondered this too, google it. The GK Silver Flame is actually an interesting story. I recently picked up some ABS heads, they look great to me but just the same I have no doubts that there is a very real difference to the educated and discerning craftsman... ie where are the parts and componets actually made?!
From what I could gather Markus Gross engineered the Silver Flame broadheads and founded GERMAN KINETICS. look that up, it was very interesting to me.
I was thinkn they were different. I seen on ther GK site that there are 2 dealers in the US.
There are diffrences ABS uses a 440C, instead of the 440B Steele Markus used. It seems though they have started making the originals in Germany again according to their site. As mentioned they have 2 dealers in the States, a dealer in Oregon and one in Florida. ABS is not listed as a dealer.
I order mine direct from German kinetics..I've owned both. I prefer the originals.

My thoughts as well !!!
I'm sure ABS will promote theirs as being just as good as the original German made (German Kinetic)ones. But, Markus manufactured his heads to very close tolerances, cryogenically treated them and had a machine designed to final strop them with elephant hide...etc. They were the poster child for the term "scary sharp" or "wicked sharp" Maybe all this is true now, but I can guarantee they are not any better.
