I've been shooting a Damascus glove for 23 years, and for some reason, my fingers are getting a little sore. I need to feel the string, but I need a little thicker leather. maybe im just getting soft!! Any recommendations?

X2 stick tite.
Great, I was looing at that one!
Hey grouse shooter, My ex-wife and I looked at a house in Morris. My cousin lives in Milford.
I like the three rivers dura glove.RC
American Leather
American Leather x2!
absolutely love my American Leathers Crossover. tad spendy, but excellent quality. glad I shelled out for it.
American Leathers makes a quality glove. Have the Big Shot and went to the Crossover and like it much better.

American Leathers big shot buffalo!
Dura-glove or Bearpaw Speed glove give a little more protection. I also have an American Leathers and it gives a lot more protection but I don't have much string feel with it.
I've been using a DuraGlove for about four years and I'm real pleased with the combination of string feel and padding. My heaviest bow is 55@28 and I'm drawing it a little over 27"
Since I started using the Dura-Glove, I haven't looked for anything else. I'm very satisfied.
Sean -Are you shooting longbow or recurve? Also I noticed that most of the responses are for gloves that cover most of your hand. I guess that's OK for those of you that live up north in states that huddle up together just to stay warm in the winter. :bigsmyl: However, down here in Texas it tends to get get pretty warm in the winter and downright hot in the summer. So, if you do any shooting at all, you find yourself with a sweaty glove and a wet glove creates all sorts of release issues.
I shoot longbows and therefore really like the traditional finger stall gloves with a thin leather lace or strap that connects the stall with a wrist strap. The stall can be easily slipped off the end of the fingers and allowed to air dry between shots. It also makes it easy to write down scores during a 3D Shoot without wearing gloves over your writing fingers.
My favorite for years has been the E.W. Bateman Traditional Glove made with cordovan leather. It takes a little breaking in, but I think it is the best glove on the market, bar none.

I was sold on my first duraglove but just ordered another.Quality control was terible on the new one and that is all I will say about that.Kip
Thanks guys.
Ric, I'm a recurve shooter, with my heaviest bow being 65# at my draw. My main bow is 55#, and my bows are 58 and 60"s. My soreness only atarted about a month or two ago. On the bottom side of my ring finger and the bottom side of my index finger. I guess it could be finger pich that I'm just now noticing. I've tried tabs, but just don't like them. It seems like the stitching in the seem is right where the sorness is. Thanks
Hi Sean,
I just read your response and am amazed that anyone knows where Morris is. I would like to meet you so if you are up to Milford or Cooperstown please let me know before hand and maybe we could meet somewhere.

Dura Glove just watch the sizing I have 2 one is a medium and the other a large and they are the same size! The newest one is a large I ordered a medium and had to send it back couldn't get my fingers in it. Cost me shipping.
Also agree the quality is less on the new one but still better than most gloves.
I shoot a Berlin glove from 3 Rivers. It has an extra piece of leather over the finger tips which is nice, but it is not too stiff to feel the string. The only thing I don't like is the price and the shipping.
More padding than the Damascus is probably going to be the Berlin. That will get you a little more. I have a bear paw black glove and like that a lot. I think it has more protection than a Damascus, but not sure how much. I love the nylon finger tips. I wouldn't mind a little more protection. I am thinking about trying the Dura-glove. I have had a super glove and American leather glove. I didn't like the super glove feel, fit, or deep creases it got. The American Leather was real nice, but real thick so not much feel.
Bearpaw Speed Glove.
Bearpaw speed glove is the way I went after using the Grizzly glove for years. It's a tad thicker than your Damascus but not as stiff as a super glove, it kinda falls in the middle of the road for feel and protection.
sorry double post
Sean -
You are probably placing too much pressure on the the string from your ring finger. That can cause you to actually torque the string.Try relaxing the ring finger a little. That may help the soreness.
I know. I did this so badly that I actually developed a callous on the lower side of my ring finger.

I cut the palm part off my dura glove and bearpaw to help lose some of the heat.RC
Dura Glove for me.
I have really bad arthritis in my fingers and wrists. I've been using an Alaska Bow Hunting Supplies Super Glove and really like it. Where does it fit in order of protection compared to the other gloves discussed?
I found the super glove to have a medium amount of protection as far as string feel, but not as much as I thought it would when I got it. It is really hard to say unless you have all the options to try at the same time. I find my feel changes over time as I get used to different padding amounts. . I hated it because for some reason it would cause splits in my skin in the joint of one of my fingers. Middle finger I think. It also took on the deepest grove of any glove I have had, and maybe that was why it would split my finger. I had a American Leather big shot at the time also, and there was no comparison. The big shot had way more padding, release was better, and no issue with splitting my finger.
Thanks for the evaluation. I'll have to try the Big Shot for my next glove.
