We've been really fortunate this season and my wife Staci just harvested another goat, this time I got it all on video.
Here's the link to the video. I tried something different this time. We're both practicing our narration on video, so I didn't add any music. Hopefully it works out ok. Let me know what you guys think. There were times when we had to whisper, so I tried to "boost" the volume as much as possible. I still need to buy a better mic for this camera too.

I'd bet they stick their face to the ground. Yank out some grass with their teeth. And chew it for a while then swallow!!

Sorry couldn't help myself

Thanks for all the kind words Gang! We really appreciate it! I'll get the video up shortly.
Tracker12, as long as they got water, either though the river beds or food, they're pretty good to eat.
Aloha!
Ryan

Incredible.
Craig
Excellent video!
:clapper: to Staci!
Fantastic! Thanks for sharing the video with us.
Craig,
I saw some nice billies way up top. Too high for us, but I'm sure it wouldn't be a problem for you!
Thanks again Gang!!! Really appreciate all the great comments.
:campfire:
That was awesome. Thanks for taking the time to post the film.
Fantastic Stuff!!! Great work on the camera!
Great stalk congrates
Ryan,
If I have to climb to the top, so be it. The views from up there are probably absolutely stunning. Higher than 3000 ft?
Thanks for the advice.
Craig
Very nice shooting and filming.
Its great to see "us" hunting as we do without all the BS. A simple (but seldom easy) affair that makes us all proud.
Ryan, what are the specs on the camera?
Thanks!
Bob

Congrats on a great hunt and good video! Thanks for sharing with us.
NIIIIICE! Cool video. Was that flies I was hearing.?
Luv'd it!! Staci's got such a great smile....you guys are a great team!!
PS.... Every time I hear you guys talk I think of BJ Penn :dunno:
Dude your wife is $$$! What awesome follow-through! I want some shooting lessons when I come over. I think you had goat fever worse than she did by the sounds of your heaving breathing, LOL! Tell Staci nice work and you're getting some great footage. You're making my off season feel even longer! Can't wait to get out there myself. Congrats!
Great quality video. I like it better without music.
Mahalo Gang!
Matty probably, the flies and mosquitos are bad in there!!! Don't need to blood trail, just listen for the flies.
Thanks Bud! Yeah our pidgin is pretty strong. ;)
South, why do you think I run the camera??? I'm only good for packing lunch and filming Staci! Even her family said that she's the hunter and I'm the gatherer. :knothead:
Thanks for the input Jim!
Thank you so much for all the "kudos!" You all are too kind!! I would give most of the credit to Ryan, though....his excellent filming and editing skills makes me look good! :biglaugh:
Ryan, enjoyed the video and I agree, like your narration, gives the viewer a sense of what's coming.
Staci, awesome how quickly you've picked up on bowhunting. Great post to you both.
Thanks Stu!
Yeah people seemed to like the narration so I went back and adjusted all the audio. Now it should be a little better. I reposted the new link.
For the guys that been asking about preparing goat, here's a picture to give you an idea. Goat roast in the slow cooker.
Enjoyed the hunt..congrats on the goat!!
Good stuff. Guru I`m with ya on the BJ Penn thing.RC
Somehow I'm not surprised with this awesome hunt and video job. Congrats to the both of you...AGAIN!! You sure are creating expectations here..
Curious (I'm sure I'm not the only one) on what camera setup you use?
Thanks for sharing...can't get enough of your stuff
Ryan
Very nice!
On all acounts amazing. Her shot on game rivails all. Did you all see how solid that was. Great Stuff.
:clapper: :clapper: Thanks for the video post. Great hunting!!!
Ryan, Many congrats on the successful hunt to you and Staci!! I really appreciate the video being void of music. The natural sounds of the animals, and birds are a refreshing escape from the "rock & roll" music that everyone seems to think they need to put in their videos.(I have listened but have yet to hear a deer or goat play an electric guitar in the wild). It really is impactful as you watch the footage. You did a great job on the camera and I appreciate your sharing your experience with us.
That roast looks absolutely edible as well. :clapper: :clapper:
Blessings,
Congratulations on the hunt, and I really enjoyed the video.
Thank you very much Gang! All these positive comments will hopefully give Staci even more confidence in the field.
Randy, yeah how was that anchor and follow though.... I would have to use "b roll" of myself to get a shot like that in the field. Sometimes I get so excited, I don't even know if I hit anchor!!! :dunno:
Thank you Todd, and yes the roast came out better than expected. Big billies are nice but nannies are yummy! ;)
I appreciate the continued input about the narration. I just need to be careful so that my "pidgin" isn't too strong. If it gets bad, I may need to add subtitles. :D
Ryan, I'm currently using a Canon Vixia HF G10. It's great for guys like me who struggle with electronic equipment. It does all the "thinking' for me and relatively user friendly. Let me know if I can answer any other additional questions.
Aloha!
Ryan
Ryan, My hats off to you and Staci. Congrats to her and you both.
She has a serious look of determination, and her execution is right on. She will have all the critters spooked off that hill before long, If they know whats good for em!. Really great stuff you two are sharing with us.
Congrats and thank you.
CTT
Thanks Chuck!
Yeah, I'll need to start tricking them. I'll carry the bow and Staci will carry the camera. Then the goats will be like "ahhh the husband has the bow, we have nothing to worry about today". Then we'll switch off when it's time to stalk. :D
Take Care!
Ryan

goat....it's just as good the second day.....
Congrats you two. Great job on the video! Sure is some pretty country you have there.
AWESOME Staci.....hey your pidgin sounds fine to me bra :) I understand you fine :)
Tony, it was even better on the second day.
Thanks Charlie, yes we're very fortunate.
Art, we go hunt up mauka, den kick back and have a few... ;)
Mahalo Gang!
That lady has some serious skill. Very nice video. Beautiful scenery and wonderful hunt.
Congrats.
Well done! Congrats on that trophy.

Most-excellent shooting! Even Merida would have cheered!
Enjoy the feast!
Shoot straight, Shinken
:archer2:
Thanks Guys!!!
LOL Shinken! Merida from Brave huh? Too funny!!! :campfire:
Wow! The Video is awesome! I love the scenery, and the hunt itself is out of bounds!
Congrats again!
I have no clue, Ryan and Staci, what kind of biting and stinging insects, ticks, or the other vermin infest the Hawaii woods, but it gave me the heebie-jeebies watching Staci crawl thru that thick underbrush...I'd be coated with ticks here!
The other things this tired ole knee guy noticed was how Staci just squats down and rests... OMG...my knees were SCREAMIN just lookin at that!
You guys are a tough pair to beat! Such incredible country, the distances traveled, are totally amazing...
Congrats for all you accomplish and the effort to take videos and bring us along! Only in my dreams... :)
Congrats to Staci!!! and nice job on the video Ryan.
Charlie
Thanks guys!
Doc, that's another cool part about Hawaii, we really don't have much to worry about in terms of insects and vermin. Staci got a bunch of mosquito bites during the stalk but that's about it and yes she's a "tough cookie" ;) The biggest concern is the steep and unstable cliff sides. I feel your pain about knees. I've got two torn acls and damaged meniscus.
Ryan
Such lush countryside belies the lack of winged or creepy nasties.
Strap a Thermacell on your pack and you'll avoid MOST of the skeeters! Learned that from them s'uthin boys on here! :)
It's hard to get a perspective on the "steep and unstable cliff sides" from your video, but it's easy to see there is some very "sudden" country that you two navigate! Good thing those goats aren't a lot bigger to pack out.
Personally, I'd love to see a video of your boning out process and how you package it for the long hike back out, especially in the warm weather.
All that would be applicable to many areas here in the continental early season habitats, me thinks...
Take care of those acls and meniscus as they have a way of coming back in later life to remind you of their significance!
Doc,
Basically we use the "gutless" method. There are many variations but a few good ones on youtube. We put all the meat in a well ventilated bag and head out after we've shot an animal. I always try to tie the bag to the outside of my pack for increased ventilation and use the trails that are shady.
I agree those thermacells work well!!
Here's a pic of the valley.

that is beautiful, ryan.think my wife would enjoy a Hawaii vacation? :bigsmyl:
Jesse, not if you left her alone, while you went hunting.... :D
Good advice, Ryan. Jesse, you best have a lawyer on speed dial if you leave your bride beach side to hunt! :0  :scared:
Outstanding Stuff Ryan and Staci. Very much enjoyed it. I agree with Doc on expecting bugs and snakes in greenery like that.If I walk through bush like that here with no deet on I can take off my socks and they will crawl across the floor. RC
Congratulations Staci!!
Must say that your video "style" really is very pleasing Ryan. Appreciate all the efforts you both put into documenting what looks like a great hunt.
The more of these videos of hunting Hawaii I see the higher getting over there climbs on my to do list.
Way to guy guys and congrats yet again Staci!
RC, yeah we're so fortunate to not have all types of creepy crawlies!!! The only problem is now I freak out when I hunt out of State!
Thanks John!
We tried to do a "Trad Gang style story" but on video. It may not appeal to everyone, but "The Gang" seemed to enjoy it. Thank you for the kind words!
Aloha!
Ryan
Great video fo a great hunt Ryan and Staci! congrats, makes me want to grab a bow and hop on a plane! keep em coming!
Thank you "gang" for all the positive responses! We are very fortunate to have such beautiful areas to hunt all year round. But, I'm even more fortunate that Ryan lets me tag along and have most of the fun!!
>>-- Staci -->
ALOHA Ryan and Staci GREAT video of Staci on her goat hunt :clapper: :clapper: just Awsome footage of Makua valley ALOHA and MAHALO
Staci,
I think that feeling of appreciation in having each other is well documented in Ryan's first stories of how cool it was to have you even consent to go along...and now to have such a fervent love of it all, has to make Ryan's heart soar like a hawk!
Ryan, I laughed pretty hard reading your reply to how you now freak on out of state hunts where there are creepy crawlies! Guess that would turn the tables... :jumper:
Love the videos and seeing a hubby /wife team in action! Excellent! Thank you!
what a great bowhunting/camera team, this is THE way to do it and the superb outcome speaks for itself on many levels. the hunting don't get no better, staci is just an excellent huntress, and the video results are certainly WAY better than lots of stuff on the cable hunt shows and commercial vids.
just excellent! mahalos!   :notworthy:
Thanks Gang!
See you at the range Darryl!
Thanks again Doc! and yes I'm a "chicken" away from home! :D
Mahalo Rob! Those words mean a lot to us, coming from you! Take care and we'll try our best to keep at it!
Aloha!
