Title: Back Quivers for your Opinion
Post by: 2fletch on April 05, 2013, 09:46:00 PM
After noticing that one of the shooters on our weekly Thursday night family had a talent for making archery goods. I spoke with her about making several back quivers. She has a history of working with leather and I believe a talent for creativiy and style. Thought that I would post photos of two of them to see what you thought. Many of you have been very helpful in the past and your opinions and advice has been invaluable. This line of quivers will be available for sale in the near future.

They look good.

Nice symbol-inlay type thing. The one on the right looks a bit better put on but that could be the angle.

Certainly nothing wrong with either of them. I'd wear them for sure.

Very nice, i like back quivers, but i have difficulties if the fletchings are more over my shoulder versus closer to my ear. I dont know if others have the same issue, but if she can make em where they stay there i would give it some thought

Bud B., the dimensions of these two quivers are approximately 20" deep by 5" x 3", which will hold a dozen arrow comfortably. The standard length will be about 22" and we have already made two at 24" for a customer.

We have a new computor system which I'm still adjusting to, so pictures will be added one at a time.

Don,

It looks like the diamond is stitched on with a sinew type thread and has a snakeskin center. Is this correct?

Bring some to the Sissipahaw shoot in May and let us have a gander at'em. They are looking nice.

And what type leather??

Bud, the center of these two diamond patterns are Western Diamondback, and the border is stitched with an industrial sewing thread that could be classified as artificial sinew. We will be using some python snakeskin in diamond patterns also in the near future. As for leather, we will mostly use from about 7-9 oz cowhide in oil tan or latigo.

As for Sissipahaw, I usually make 2 of the 3 each year, so there's a good chance of being there. It's a great club to shoot.

What is the price point on these?

Can you get one without the inlay?

Good looking stuff.

I bet they would also look good with some bead work thrown in for added visual flair.

At least that's how I imagine my first REAL back quiver will be.

I am hesitant to go with a back quiver because I have a bad posture problem that doesn't allow me to stand straight up.  I am kinda bent at the shoulders.  I have a basic back quiver that a member from another forum put together and didn't like so he gave it to me.  To use it, I have to push the bottom with my hand and then use the other to get the arrows.  I simply can't just reach around and get an arrow with my free hand.

Do you know if one could be made, or are you planning on having an attachment strap or something that would keep it in place for people like me that aren't that adept at those motions?

I'd like to hear ideas about such a quiver and how it would work.  Do you all plan on having a full range of quivers or being able to tailor your designs to a persons needs?

Great looking stuff.  Didn't mean to sidetrack anything, just asking.
