I have never been lucky enough to find a good bow at a yard/garage sale.
I know some of us here have had different luck. Will you tell us about some of your finds please?

Bought a 1970 Bear Kodiak in great shape for $25.00. Plus it came with about 15 easton gamegetters arrows.
Two years ago I bought 5 Bears, all from 60's,.Paid $100 for all 5 and sold them all for 100 a piece!! Shawn
Got a LH Kodiak Magnum for 20.00 one time. had a slight limb twist. Straightened it under some warm water and made a 100.00 when I sold it.

Bought a Bear Kmag for $10.00 once. It was a beater, but still....
I also bought a box of 40 Bear Razorheads, unused, dirt cheap. I don't remember what I paid, but it was pennies per broadhead.

Best buy was a Shakespeare, 40#er for $.25, twenty five cents. Made a string for it and shot a grey fox that year.
$20 for a Bear latch takedown at a yard sale. Sme slae bought a full set of Callaway X18 golf clubs w/ Callaway bag for $40...
I found a Old Bear Polar with a Zebra wood riser,35# with cream colored glass for 30$ at a flea market......it's my wife's 3'D bow now!
I found a Wing Gull last year 64" at 39# for $15.00,gave it to my son.

It's been quite a while ago, but I bought a Bear Grizzly at a yard sale for $5. It was at the bottom of a pile of scrap lumber. The guy was surprised I even wanted it. He and his sons had "moved up" to compounds.
Bought a 1958 Bear Alaskan, 43#, gray glass/no coin, for $2, also bought a Root Gamemaster 45# for $12. Still have the Bear, but sold the Root for $65.
I have seen a couple of serious junkers for 250-350 range I would not have offered 25 bucks for. Some of you are LUCKY!
Not a yard sale, but found a 70's Bear Grizzly 45# for 50.00 at a flee market.
I found a 68 bear sk 55 and a wing red wing hunter 50 both for 35$ my dad got bear mag take down in case early 70,s for 20$
Bought a 35# Bear Montana (almost new) for $35! A dollar a pound. Way too light for me to shoot, but could not pass it up at that price. I use it as my "loaner" bow for friends who want to join me at the range.
bought a Bear Grizzly with a factory quiver and five Bear arrows and razorheads for $15.00......it was covered in filthty camo tape...once I took off all the tape and cleaned it up the paint was perfect......great shooting bow!!!!!
Because of this thread I followed a bunch of sighs today to a yard sale.... and looked at a lot of kids clothes! lol Hey ... you never know but I had to laugh! :)
Here are my good bow finds: a 60# damon howatt Balboa at a gun show for $12,a 55# mint 70's bear Grizzly at a flea market for $75,a 55# bear Polar longbow at a flea market for $10,and my best find at a small outdoor shop a 55# 1969 bear Super-K for $55. I once read a story of a guy who bought a A-handle custom Kodiak T/D at a garage sale for a whopping $20,he said he couldn't pay fast enough or get out of there quick enough before they changed there mind.
I found a 55# Hoyt Pro Hunter at a gun show some years ago for $20.00.
I have found quite a few but a buddy of mine has a brother that was showing me a one piece Dale Dye he bought off a fella and get this a whopping $65.00..The guy asked me if I ever heard of a Dale Dye before?

Indian Archery Chochese with an orginal Bear bowfishing real taped on,,,$3 Still shoot the bow regularly...the Bear Bowfishing real is in the garage...someday I'll trade it off...
My Grandpa has often told me that back in the 70s when many people were switching to compounds that people were practically giving there recurves away at garage/yard sales... If only I had been born about 30 years sooner :banghead:
I picked up a nice Wilson brothers Black Widow for 15 bucks a few years ago at a garage sale.
Last summer was good to me. I found an early 70's Grizzly in VGC for $15. And we stopped at a family members moving/yard sale were they had a Pearson Cougar, a '68 Kodiak Hunter, a '69 Kodiak Hunter and a piece of junk old wheel bow. They were moving in a week and couldn't sell them so they gave them to me.
66 Kodiak,Refinished it and gave it to my nephew.
These stories are unreal yet great to read about. I've never seen anything like this. In many years, I've only found one bow at a yard sale but it was priced at $150.
About 5 years ago at a garage sale I picked up a 45# Ben Pearson Colt in good condition. Best shooting $5 bow that I've ever seen.
Had a lady pick a road kill grizzly in front of me for 15 dollars.I offered her 25 she called her man and he said no way.After 6 or 7 offers turn down,wish i saw his face when she got home and saw what she turn down 400 for.
