Title: Anyone have a good pic of the strap system on a GFA quiver?
Post by: MikeW on August 26, 2007, 10:59:00 AM
I heard it's more versatile than some of the home made ones I've seen made from Kiwi quivers and such.
I'm going to make my own but I'd like to see how the strap in attached on it. I'm going make my own version of Steven Catts Mountain Hunter also. I think with the right strap system this could be made to wear on the back or like a side kick.

Go ahead and post all your GFA and side kick style quivers if you would to give me some more ideas.
TIA

I swear picking a good quiver is harder than picking a good bow.

Why not just buy the GFA? It's a great quiver, well thought out.

Cause I like to build stuff myself, and I have a bunch of leather laying around that needs to be used.

I'm interested in this thread too.  I have been thinking of picking up a regular compound bow quiver and attaching some type of strap to it so I can carry it over the shoulder.  I haven't seemed to figure out what would be the best (or a good) quiver to start with.

I wish I could sport a GFA quiver, they are just too expensive for me.

How much is a regular compound quiver? The GFA is only $50.

I had made up a simular style as the GFA. I used a compound quiver and a strap to see if I'd like it at all.
Ended up buying the GFA quiver.

here is my own home made version of a GFA type quiver. I purchased a handsome wool nessities bag (that makes purse sound much more masculine  :D ) for $1.00 at a garage sale and bought an old bear 8 arrow quiver for about $8.00 and some zip ties for another $1.00 and I am jamming!

Nice job AA. I especially like the use of zip ties...second only to duct tape on the "handy list" if you ask me.

I use a PSE compound quiver with leather strap.

The arrows lay flat, and it's a very unobstrusive quiver, that you can wear across your back or side and not know it's there.

Yep, I've been known to be a little frugal myself. I once made a panda bow out of mater stakes and duct tape. Worked pretty good too.

I made a quiver much like anoinedarcher but bought a GFA recently. The GFA quiver is a delta quiver with a custom clip  that the strap attaches to. It's a solid design but am planning to take the felt/wool off the cover and replace it with leather and maybe put a small pouch hanging off the quiver or a loop to hang it from a treestand. Fred probably has a patient on the clip. Either way it's a nice quiver!

AA- you can call it what you want but it will always be a purse with a quiver attached. LOL just think of all the womenly things that were in there at one time makes me shutter.

AnointedArcher,
I've seen you post that before, along with Killdeer's leather one that is very similar. Very inventive.
So I take it what makes the GFA so versatile are the clips that allow the strap to be adjusted along the rod?

I guess no one has a picture of one......(the original question)

Yeah it would be nice if someone could take a good close/detailed pic of those clips.

Something tells me with a little searching at Home Depot one could come up with something that works. Some kind of spring loaded clip that would grab the rod tightly or a clamp with a thumb screw.
