But there's no turkeys around here...
So I just went to the woods to stump shoot for a while. Of course I always have a few broadheads in my quiver just in case I see a turkey !
I'd walked about a 3/4 of a mile and shot maybe twenty stumps. Missed a few and hit a few. I was on the edge of a right of way and I could see a few critters way away. I couldn't tell if they were deer or pigs but the way they moved I thought pigs. It was getting late but when I see a pig it's hard for me not to go to him. I took off and as I got closer my suspicion was confirmed.
Since the right of way was mowed and wide open I elected to slip back into the woods and see if I could put a sneak on them. As I got closer I slowed way down trying not to make any noise. I could see them through the brush and they were unalarmed at this point.. Just guessing, I'd say I'd closed to within about 35 yards when one of them came in the woods coming my way. I could tell she had heard or smelled something she didn't like. I held my ground and let her come but at 20-25 yards she turned and started traveling broadside. The brush was thick but I saw a two or three foot opening in front of her and started my draw. She was traveling at a fast walk and when she was about 1/2 through the opening my arrow magicly appeared in her shoulder! I either lead her a tad much or just pulled my shot, either way the arrow broke the near shoulder and buried in the opposide shoulder. She made about 50 yards and went down..
I was using a 66" Wesley that's 57lbs at my draw length. The CE 250 was tipped with a Zwickey No Mercy..

Good deal Pat. Lots more meat on that "Turkey". RC
You do have a consistent way of showing them 'No Mercy'.
Thanks for sharing!!
Way to go again Pat!! You're sure hard on the hogs down there!!
Anothr nice one, Pat!
Congrats,
Bisch
Good work Pat!
Nice. Thanks for sharing.
Awesome pig! Thanks for sharing.
Love it when it happens like that. Sounds like you made a great shot. Is that jacket you are wearing noisy?
I still expected to see a dead pig in this post even with your title.. Good job Pat.
Nice! I think you have the hogs figured out. :)
Very nice
Congrats, wish I could sneak up on Deer like that.Hog hunt'n is a blast. Got to love those Wesley's.If I lived down south, I too would be an Hogaholic.Nice Pig!
Mike, the coat is just a shaggie. It's been washed a few times and is not noisy but any little thorn will grab it. A couple of months ago I got spotted several times by pigs and thought I'd try something to help break up my outline. Now they spot my shiny white face!
The ones I was looking at (for stalking)were nylon and seemed to be noisy when I would draw. My shaggie is to heavy to stalk in.
I was in your State back in February and had trouble with thorns wearing just a long sleeve shirt.
Well sir what Thumper is to coyotes you are to hogs.... Bad Medicine!! Great story and nice shooting!!
Steve

Way to go Pat! That's a nice Wesley!
Enjoy the feast!
Shoot straight, Shinken
