Title: Removing name - Black Widow bow?
Post by: Jeff U on August 25, 2007, 10:14:00 PM
I saw a Black Widow bow that I would consider buying but it has a name (applied by the factory) that I cannot live with.

Anybody ever removed a name from a BW bow?

How difficult was it?

Can it be done at home with out wrecking the finish?

Light sanding will work well and than re-apply a couple light coats of spar. Or get their own finish(Black widows). shawn

I hate it when an old girlfriend's name pops up on a bow.  Makes me wanna get out a belt sander.

0000 Steel Wool and take your time. After you get the name off. Spray on some DEFT satin finish. It will be as good as new.

I have taken many names off Widows especially and replaced the the section with a "wildlife" stamp such as a deer, turkey, or indian head that hobbiest use to make greeting cards. Once it drys, put on a light coat of DEFT.
