I've got a good size scrap piece from my impala that really matches the brown cross grain veneers on my bow and thought it might look good covering the hood on my Selway quiver. My problem is I'm not sure if I can do a good enough job and I really don't want to screw up the quiver. Anybody out there ever taken this on and how'd ya do it? I've seen Curt's snake skin addition and that looks sweet but I want this to cover the whole hood...
Thanks
I have. In 2 pieces and stitched around the sides and bottom. I take it the impala has the hair? If not you can wet and mold the leather to fit but if it has the hair I'm not sure. You can still stitch and just keep pulling the little puckers tight and take your time. This one was a temp trial.
You can do a better stitching than I did, ill do a nice x stitck when i do it permanant. Now that I have the fit I'll just take this one off when I find a piece of leather I like and get around to it I'll remove this one and use it as a template.
I would reccomended doing the same before cutting your impala.

Ray, that's the quiver I thought of when I first saw this thread! Thought of doing that with a javelina, but would need a much smaller quiver...

That's great
Contact the folks at Selway. They might be able to help you out. They have been working with that rawhide quiver for years and should know it inside out.
