Post by: BubbaPA on March 29, 2013, 02:57:00 PM
Just found this bow and do not know anything about it. If you could help thanks. The only markings on the bow is on the back of the limb and it says L.E. Stemmler Co Queens L.I.N.Y. Also on the belly of the limb it has the number 22. It's made of Osage and has just a leather handle no shelf. It you could help thanks.

If it is marked Stemmler look on the side of the bow around the top of the leather handle where your shelf would be and you will sometimes find a circle inlaid into the bow. Sometimes mother of pearl.

Made in NY as stated, I beleive they later moved to Jersey.  The few I have shot were good shooting bows.

I have one, a "Squire". Looks like a hybrid, probably a recurve or semi recurve in it's day. My first bow, now I hold on to it just as a backup.
Nice shooting bow - grip isn't quite right for me, but it's smooth and forgiving, fast enough for it's weight.
