I'd like to see your shrew hawks and frontiers companion. What are your dimensions
. Blade length and head length?
Do any of you use a longer Handel than it came with?
How many use it for cutting shooting lanes? Thanks
Would like to see a pic if someone has them both together.
Thanks
I have two of his shrew hawks. I actually cut the handle a teeny bit shorter. I use it primarily for utility and not warfare so reach is not as important as ease of carry. I use mine for trimming lanes, trimming trails, pounding stakes, whacking skwerls, and anything else that needs whacking.
I like mine a bunch and carry it very often, especially when scouting or trailing. I keep it sharp and it keeps me smiling as I slice thru things that other folks hack at. Note. . make and keep it in some sort of sheath or you will be bleeding (don't ask how I know).
Yup, good stuff

I do not have a shrew hawk yet,but i sure would like to have one soon. I have the his neck knife, and i really like that!
Yeh I have his skinner love it. Ordered a shrew hawk and am interested in the frontiersman comparison. Thanks
I received one as a Christmas gift this year. I was out in the woods with it yesterday. I like it. I will say that it is not an axe and not a knife. It has a unique role. I used it yesterday to cut down some wild grape vines. I am hoping to get to use it more and discover more of its real utility.
Got one, with frontier shoulder strap, love em both, works great, makes quick work of natural blind.
I have a shrew hawk with the frountiershoulder strap, I did make a longer handle for mine out of a extra cold steel handle that I had, sanded down for fit....the shrew is a quality steel hawk....a little light in my opinion for heavier work....just fine for light to moderate work around the woods and camp....the shrew is one of 4 hawks that I have, I've cold steel that lives in the vehicle, a vectorized cold steel with polymer handle, and a fort tuner hawk....all are a little bit different from each other...
mine is 5" back to front, the blade is just over 2 1/2". Where the handle goes through it's about 1 1/8"

Thanks guys
I have a trappers companion and it is a real tool. Use it drive tent stakes, split firewood and kindling, make blinds, and clear brush. It is a real tool around hunting camp.
I have a copy of most of the Hawks he has sold. No pics at the moment. They are all superb quality, working tools. Although they are a blast to throw, I use them in the bush often for building blinds, clearing lanes, chopping kindling, whatever. They take a good edge, and I have skinned deer with them many times. A very handy, light weight addition to your pack or belt. Absolutely worth the money.
You cannot go wrong with any of the Shrew Steel products.
I currently am blessed to own a Shrew Hawk with Frontier shoulder rig, a Lil' Skinner neck knife and one of his first Fighter Bowies (Defender) with the shoulder rig.
All excellent products!!
I love mine. It is always on my hip when setting up my stands and ambush spots. Works great for clearing brush!
