The image below is actually 3000 wide ...

... if you right click on the above image, then click on view image, you'll see its original large size.
WELL WORTH SEEING FULL SIZE!
SO - from now on, NO more image sizing requirements for any and all Trad Gang posted images.
Kudos to our ISP guru master PHP/CGI programmer, chief cook and bottle washer, Jim G, for the excellent coding!
Thats great !

That's so cool!
You're most welcome Rob! Anything I can do to help...
Amazing that a texan would have anything to do with making something naturally "smaller". :jumper:
I'm sure that will help so many folks! I've learned a few tricks on here from other posters, but PB is still funky chicken land...
Kudos to you both, Rob & Jeff
Awesome!!!!
double
Grey job y'all
Wow Guys, What a great improvement!!!! Thanks so much and God bless you all, Steve
I've just been trying to learn new photobucket had about given up, thanks for making it easier, really is gonna help in so many ways!!!!!
  GREAT JOB GUYS !!!
Well done! :clapper: :clapper:
Anybody notice the bows those guys are holding? That is almost as amazing as the auto resizing!
I haven't posted pictures for awhile now. Thank you I can post again.
another big image, from the 2006 Texas Mod Melt ...
IF YOU AR USING THE FIREFOX WEB BROWSER - WHICH YOU SHOULD! - right click on it and do a "view image" to see it full size. i think we're gonna have fun posting big images from now on.
for windows/microsoft users, go to this address and install and use FIREFOX as your default web browser instead of the explorer web browser - in doing so you will have a better Trad Gang viewing experience ...

This is way cool!
So, will it take "plain" ole Bubinga and convert it to Macassar Ebony?
Kidding aside (mostly). One of the HUGE features of many threads are the pictures people post. When I see a thread about bows and it doesn't have a picture, I sign off and offer to vacuum or wash dishes.
the following bugs are now a non-issue and have all been resolved!there are a few TEMPORARY bugs to iron out with the new code, such as having to change the code line when editing yer post or quoting a post ...
change this ...

to this ...

we should have that stuff fixed in a day or two. but ANY size JPG, JPEG, GIF or PNG images you do post from ANY online image source (photobucket, imgur, imglinky, etc) will get scaled down to no wider than 640.
as mudd would say, "how cool is that? WAY!" :D

Thanks to everyone involved...... :notworthy: ..... :notworthy:
You all just keep gettin it better and better....thanks!! :clapper: :clapper:
Man that's awesome, so many times I said the heck with it and didn't post something because I didn't want to fool with photo bucket, thanks!
Great job fella's. Thank You.
Woohoo!
Does this mean that we don't have to use photobucket?
I understand we will not have to resize but I am thinking photobucket is still in the picture.
John
This will dedfinatly make your job easier and ours more enjoyable. Thank you to all involved.
:clapper: :clapper:
Awesome! :clapper:
Dang Rob, you guys are good!
Awesome. Thanks for all of the good work you guys do.
what all this means is that ...
- you will still need to store your images somewhere online, using ANY image archive service like photobucket or imgur or imglinky or whatever.
- there is NO concern for image size, save 'em to any size you like and as large as you like, they sky's the limit, they can all be posted on trad gang.
- if you are using a pc, use the free FIREFOX as your web browser (www.mozilla.org), get rid of explorer!, and if you right click on a trad gang posted image, then click "view image", you will see its original size, which can be HUGE, so that you will see much more detail.
hope this makes for a better trad gang experience for all, it sure has for me (and terry and jeff and all the other admins and mods!) ;)
Well I right click on the pictures and none of the 19 prompts offers "view image"...???
Well I right click on the pictures and none of the 19 prompts offers "view image"...???
X2 just figured it was me! No biggie though.
I'm running on Google Chrome and when I right click it says "Open image in a new window" Which it does, then I can click on the image and it will be regular size. Some of them Rob posted are huge!
This is an outstanding upgrade to the system, and will make both the user and the admin/mods life a whole lot easier!
Thank you Rob, and your code writer for making it much more user friendly for everyone!
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!!!!!!!

IF YOU ARE USING THE FIREFOX WEB BROWSER - WHICH YOU SHOULD! - right click on it and do a "view image" to see it full size.
if you are using that dumb windows explorer as your browser, go to this address and install/run the FREE FIREFOX browser as your default web browser - in doing so you will have a far better Trad Gang viewing experience ...
www.mozilla.org (http://www.mozilla.org[b)
if you must use explorer, and you want to see the larger version of all posted large images at trad gang (or anywhere else on the web) ....
put your mouse pointer on the image and right click, select "properties", highlight and copy the address of the image, cancel out of the small image address window, paste the image address in the url address bar of your browser and press the enter key -
OR JUST USE FIREFOX to instantly see all large images posted anywhere on the web!install and run the free FIREFOX web browser here -
www.mozilla.org (http://www.mozilla.org) i've been a FIREFOX user for well over a decade and will never go back to windows explorer. in fact, i use the FREE Linux Mint operating system instead of microsoft windows. it's worlds better, no anti-virus software needed, comes with every app you'll ever need that includes great image editing, and a full suite of office apps that work with all microsoft office apps. plus, linux mint is WAY FASTER than windows. jus' sayin' ...
download and install linux mint here ...
Linux Mint (http://www.linuxmint.com/download.php)
... linux mint can be installed alongside windows, so you can choose which operating system to use whenever you turn on your pc.
Way to go guys, nice upgrade for sure.
Cool...
 :clapper: Great work, guys!
Rob's also right about Mozilla Firefox. I've been using it for years and it's also faster than Internet Explorer.
Oh, by the way, I just went on Photobucket and turned off the automatic resizing option that auto-resizes all my photos to 640 X 480. Glad to have been able to change that option!
I too love that first photo! I will have to make Firefox my default though.
Oh, and THANK YOU guys!!! But I will have to try it myself before I will believe it. If it fails I know it will be my fault! If it can be made difficult I'm the one to do it!
:clapper:
I may be doing something wrong-- right click does not yield a "view image" in the drop down.

windows explorer is dumb about that. there is a workaround within explorer, but it's a chore.
honestly, the very best thing to do is never use explorer and instead download and install the free and way better firefox for windows. see the first post on this page for a complete rap about all this.
firefox install - www.mozilla.org (http://www.mozilla.org)
out standing!!!
:readit: :archer:
we're gonna say something now that we couldn't have said before today ....
please post your LARGEST images possible
yep, that's right, the bigger the better. :D
LOL! Rob your a hoot.
Mike
Thanks Guys. I think I just got lucky because I know nothing about sizing pics and they have all been left and not pulled so if this makes it even simpler....I feel smarter.lol.RC
Thanks sooo much. I was creating a separate folder for pics I wanted to post on line, resizing them and then uploading to Photo Bucket. All unnecessary now. Great job!!!
Awesome!
And I am sure all the mac users have already figured out to just right click then select "open image in new window" to view the full resolution version. :clapper:
Just checking, I never resized this one but it got uploaded into PB...

Sweet! Just mastered Paintshop too, oh well...
 Excellent!
Now aint this just great! Thanks guys for this improvement.
Thank you all for your hard work!!
For us Safari users, go to 'Open Image in New Window" and then use the little magnifying glass to bring the photo up to size. Very cool!
Hallelujah!!
This is more than just great (I also have used Firefox as my default Browser for years now). I would like to (think about) downloading Linux Mint from what Rob says about it - is there anything else we should know about it before deciding on that issue, Rob? (I just recently got a new HP Pavillion g7 Notebook PC w/WIN8 - for instance is Linux Mint compatible with the touchy WIN8, do you know?)
Sorry I'm late on getting this innovative change info. I was using Irfan view to resize any photos I wanted to post to TG before putting them on PB Then I found out PB had finally replaced the option to resize, if you choose it, so I did that and, then Batman told me he was sure he had seen this thread on TG. I also think I will go back in and delete the resizing option on PB now (so my pics can be seen "HUGE" if folks want - LOL)
Great job to all who were involved in making this happen on TG Can only improve things, especially viewing pleasures. I can't imagine it won't be a great help in the now happening St. Jude Auction listings as well. Thanks again.
bernie,
i can only heartily recommend loading and using linux mint. it looks and appears to function (for the very most part) just like most any windows. but instead of that dang dumb buggy virus laden microsoft product, what you have is pretty much bomb proof UNIX - arguably the best defacto operating system that's used by the military, governments and businesses. you'll still have email spam, but no virus software required.
linux mint comes preloaded with a suite of excellent applications that includes a full clone of microsoft office (it will read/write all office docs, spreadsheets, presentations and databases), a superb graphics and video editors, firefox browser and thunderbird email apps, and thousands of other FREE apps to download and install.
FREE? yes. all of the above is free of any charge or fee. how do they do this??? open source code, public domain.
i always recommend loading linux mint ALONG with your current windows operating system. that will allow you to choose which operating system you wish to load when you turn on your computer.
for ANYTHING to do with the internet or email, ALWAYS use linux mint - no virus issues. load windows if you have special applications that will only run with windows. HOWEVER, there is a linux mint interface application called WINE that will allow a fair number of windows applications to be run within the linux operating system.
to load linux mint, go to their website and download linux mint 14 nadia MATE - either the 32bit or 64bit computer version - if you don't know what bit rate your computer is, use the 32bit version as that will work with all computers.
www.linuxmint.com/download.php (http://www.linuxmint.com/download.php)
pick a server site ("mirror") to download the ISO linux mint os file. it is a very large file, close to 1 gig in size. depending on your internet connection bandwidth speed, and that of the host server, downloading can take from 10 to 40 minutes. go do something fun and let the bits and bytes do their thingy. :D
after downloading the linux mint ISO file, you will burn it to a dvd using any dvd burning software.
load the linux mint dvd. it will allow you use linux mint off of the dvd, without loading it on your machine. however, since it's on a dvd, you can't write anything, only read/look/listen. there is an icon on the linux mint desktop for installation. click it and follow the instructions - you WILL want to load it along side your windows operating system.
if the above linux mint downloading and loading seems or feels a bit daunting to you, get any high school kid to help you - most teenagers can do this stuff in their sleep. :D
enjoy!
Thanks for the further info, Rob. I probably will do it (always kinda wanted to) but guess i'll wait awhile. I used the link to go to their site (after posting the question) to look, and the way I read it they only go up to WIN7. WIN 8 is supposed to be coming out with a huge update (in June I think) that will make it more compatible with all other downloads/aps, and more user friendly (so they say - because of so many complaints). We'll see. Thanks again. I've "bookmarked" it, and your info will keep me interested.
I already went and changed my re-size options on PB to keep original size on uploads. It'll be neat to not have to worry with resizing (just like FB), and folks will be able to see the "bigger Picture" if they choose - LOL Now to get hot on photographing my St. Jude items, so I can post them.
  :archer2:

linux mint, or any operating system, has nothing to do with any existing operating system on your computer. they are all separate entities.
when you turn on your pc and load win8, that's what you get, no matter what other operating system is stored (not loaded) on your machine.
the same is true in reverse - when you turn on your pc and select linux mint to load, that's what you get, and not win8.
do not be afraid to download linux mint and put it on a dvd. put that dvd in your disc drive and turn off your computer, then turn it back on and allow the dvd to load - you will be in linux mint and have an opportunity to check it all out without doing a thing to change your computer. only if you elect to install linux mint will it change your computer - it will load linux mint completely separately from win8, the two operating systems will be totally separate and at your command as to which one you choose to load and use whenever you turn on your pc.
hope this helps!
Thanks, Rob, it does help. I will see about downloading it and putting it on a DVD, and go from there. Don't know what I was reading on the site about Vista (or XP) and WIN7, in a little box. I'll look at that again. Probably just assumed it was a limiting factor.
OK, what it was is right under the Download button it says:
Version: Latest
OS: WinXP/Vista/7
(then shows
English, free, and 5 gold star rating)
I just assumed it was a compatibility notation but guess after second look it's just a discription of the fact that it is "their" latest version.
This site just keeps getting better!!! Thanks you guys. :notworthy:
Good deal, thats gonna save a lot of time and aggravation.
ttt
Thank you!
And it really works, I've used it quite a bit lately :D
THANKS FOR THE INFO ON LINUX ROB, SYSTEM IS RUNNING VERY GOOD :bigsmyl:
