She aint new and she aint real purty....but for 30 bucks I think shell do just fine. I picked this longbow up sometime back on the auction site for right at 30 bucks, and today finally took the time to get her all set up with the arrow and point weight she likes. At 55 lbs I found that it likes 55-60 shafts and 160 grain points. After finding the combo it likes, I thought id try some broadheads at 15 yrds, just to see how it would shoot and this was the result. Very little info. on the bow, but I believe it to be made by Amelita Archery in the 50's 55 @ 28 and 57inches nock to nock when braced.
Hmmmmmm, I made have just discovered my new ( old ) turkey bow this season. :campfire: (http://%20 [/IMG]
NICE!
Look good from my house
That's a sweet looker
$30.......Id say you scored BIG TIME!!!
Seems only 2 of us wanted to give it a home, and I won out. Shes not a screamer, but after finding the right arrow, point combo its the most stable, short longbow ive ever shot. Sometimes those little gambles pay off big.
All that matters is for her to perform well in all positions...
SWEET!! Always nice when ya pick one up and shoot it like that!! BWD your bad, but I like it!! Shawn
Very nice! Kinda interesting how they look better and better when they keep putting the arrow where you want it time and time again...
Great find!
Just goes to show, never underestimate those old bows, they may be old with a few scars, but they still get it done,... kinda like a lot of us.
:biglaugh:
Sweet find!
Thanks for the kind comments guys. One of my passions is putting old bows like this back where they belong.... back on the range and in the woods.
I have a number of old bows from the 50's and 60's and theres nothing quite like shooting or hunting with a fine piece of our archery heritage. Even though a great many of the fine craftsman are gone from an earlier era that built these classic old bows, the nostalgia, joy and a testimony of there skills lives on thru these old bows. :clapper:
What a deal and it looks to be a good shooter.
Be careful!!!
You're gonna slice your feathers off!
Congrats. That is sweet!
Love it.
Believe me folks, I dont shoot this good all the time! Im thinking that this old bow may have some good Mojo in it, hope it lasts thru turkey season. :campfire:
That's cool. Good luck to you Paul. God bless.
I think it's purty enough. How about some more pics?
