Hello to the Gang.
It´s been a while since I showed up here.
I hope you people had a good time, successful hunting and straight arrows flying out of your bows.
Here is some pics of why I love my Border Bow curves.
Call me a fanboy if you want .... but I´d rather consider myself a proud member of a great family !!
I have been a trad bow shooter since I was a little boy.
Started off with some hazelnut bows given to me by my grandfather. Arrows where made out of reed or river cane.
I must have scared all critters in the neighborhood back then ....
Since then I have been shooting many bows - even started building my own bows.....
Here is how it all started with Border .... must have been around twelve years ago or something ...
A friend of mine owned a ROB ROY one piece Recurve made by Border Archery in Scotland.
After shooting that bow I wanted one myself ....
and here it is.
My first Border
a 60 inch Khan XP 30 - 70 lbs @ 29
(http://i929.photobucket.com/albums/ad132/yononindo/Black%20Douglas%20Recurve/YononindoBorderKhan_zps9e045ead.jpg) (http://i929.photobucket.com/albums/ad132/yononindo/Black%20Douglas%20Recurve/YononindoKhan_zpsa0ecca00.jpg)
She was a beauty within the beast.
I should have not let her go ..... oh boy : ) lesson learnt !!!
Main reason for switching to a Black Douglas take down was my love for traveling.
Makes traveling the world so much easier with a take down bow.
After laying my hands on a Black Douglas with XP 30 Limbs about six years ago I never looked back since !!!
Upgraded her with HEX 4, HEX 5 , HEX 6 Limbs ....... and let´s see what the future brings .
So here is my recent set up .... a 58 inch Border Black Douglas Ultra Riser with some HEX 6 H Limbs

talking about some lift of here and hitting the sweet spot ...
here are some images on how the limbs open up as draw length increases ...

I can't see the pic's ,all i see is a little blue box with a question mark in the center??
No doubt about it,they are beautifull bows!
Congrats!
Very cool effect on the pics too!
Daniel,
Good to see a post from you, I have been wondering how you were doing, miss your posts and great pictures. Also miss hunting with you, I will be back at Smitty's in December.
I have to apologize here !!!!
The size of pics are bigger that allowed on here.
I am trying to downsize them on Photobucket and hopefully I will get it done without going crazy.
Since Photobucket changed everything up it looks like it is more complicated than it used to be or is it just me being not smart enough ????
Again, SORRY
If I can´t downsize the pics feel free to delete the whole thread.
Nice pictures! Keep them coming!

Daniel,
The pictures appear to be just fine in size to me.
Great pictures. Love the effect of the sepia color.
Danny,
I had some problems with my right shoulder and elbow this year.
I could not even draw back a 25 lbs bow.
While horse training I got myself confronted with a crazy stallion this spring
Must have been around 1200 pounds of muscle and bones trying to stomp me into the ground.
I was lucky to get out alive.
Anyhow, I got back into shooting again, slowly, step by step but getting there.
I am returning to Texas somewhere around nov or dec this year so the chances are pretty high to meet you again at Smitty´s and have some pickin´n grinnin´going on.
Kepp in touch.
Back to Photobucket .... drives me nuts !!!!!

I've missed you brother.

See post above yours.
Thank you folks, as I stated above, this thread might be gone soon because it looks like I am not able to downsize the pics to the right size.

keep in mind that those shots have been taken last year before heading Texas !!!!
I was trained very well back then.
As for this year: I just got back into shooting my bow again.
here is why:
I had some major problems with my right shoulder and elbow this year.
I could not even draw back a 25 lbs bow let alone my hunting weight.
While horse training I got myself confronted with a crazy stallion this spring.
Must have been around 1200 pounds of muscle and bones trying to stomp me into the ground.
I was lucky to get out alive.
Anyhow, I got back into shooting again, slowly, step by step but getting there.
Live is great :archer:
Daniel, top shelf pics, like always!I wish you to recover soon, take care.
nice
Awesome photography and videos. Enjoyed very much!
Daniel,
I will be at Smitty's from 10-17 December, hope to see you there.
Pics are tops. enjoyed the videos.
Daniel,
You have always been a great advocate of the spirit and essence of the stick and string. Your archery skill, photos and videos are always worth seeing. Awesome stuff! Hope you recover quickly and keep sharing your experiences.
Is the antler placed on your bow to aid your shooting and if so would you mind commenting on that?
Daniel,
I sent you an email to the email address you have listed in your profile on here, let me know if you got it.
Awesome thread! Thanks for sharing! :campfire:
Cool BBD pics.
great pictures and videos!
Awesome pictures!
Very nice. From that first carp video I saw.....I've been a big fan.
Daniel, Thank you for sharing your pictures. The one with the doe over your leg really speaks! I had never heard of where you live so I googled it and learned about a place I never knew existed. Again- Thanks.
Awesome!! :campfire:
Real cool stuff. Good shooting also.
Be seeing you before you know it Daniel! November is not that far away.

Awesome photos! Thanks for sharing.
Howdy Daniel, very nice pics and video. I have followed you on yutube for some time now. Very inspirational which has encouraged my journey with the trad side of archery.
Thanks for posting, cheers Macca.
as always daniel, great pictures.
i too am wondering about the antler on your bow???
those black douglas bows are one fine looking bow. i'd love to try one.
Great post! A grand display of the reason we pursue the tradtional way. Thanks Daniel!!
Great photos! I really like the first one with your doe. Great job and love the antler!
First off .... Thanks to the Moderators here !!! :clapper:
I wasn´t able to downsize ... so I thought this thread would have been pulled by now ... which would be ok because I have not followed their rules !!!
As for the Antler rest:
Gives me a much better arrow flight.
Did not want to put anything like a flipper rest on that bow. Besides that, I like the way it appears and gives my hand a better placement.
Also works great for control of draw length - as soon as the footing on my arrow slides onto the rest I can feel it ..... but it also makes shooting more sensitive because the highest point on shelf is not above pivot point of the riser anymore .... nothing´s for free ....
thanks to the Gang for enjoying
Great pictures, as always, Daniel!
Daniel: Have to chime in and say hats off to you brother for some excellant photos and videos. Very intertaining. I also have owned and shot a Border bow. Was a sweet shooting Reiver super carbon. Just couldn't get used to the grip, but a great bow. Thanks again for sharing and don't stay away long this time. Gary.
Daniel - great to see you back here!!!! And...as usual, great photos!
Welcome back!
Great stuff right there THANKS! : :clapper:
Awesome photos and video!

First and foremost......AWESOME pictures!!! Thanks for sharing them with us.
Also......thanks to the great folks who run this site, we no longer need to reduce the resolution of our pictures. In fact, a thread was started the other day asking us to post really big pictures. With the new site auto resizing software, our full resolution pictures will appear as modest in size, but a simple click of the mouse will open them up to full size. :clapper:
