how many trad archers still use b50 string. :archer2:
I do on all of my bows
Same here.
I use it on everything!
I do on some
Nope
I do. Just prefer the feel and sound of B50.
i do on most of my bows
I use it on my Hills.
It's on all my bows.
Guy
On most of my recurves.
I use b50 or b55 on all my bows
On my bows that require it I use it...bows that'll handle FF get that.
String material has been the biggest improvement in trad archery equipment in the last 50 years, IMO. Well, maybe the introduction of carbon into arrows and bow laminations as well. Regardless, I stayed with B-50 for a long time, but the low stretch materials are so much better, quieter and faster, that I made the switch a few years ago and won't be going back.
Have used it many years and loved it. I switched to 450plus because of the low stretch it has. I do use fast flight on my target indoor bow but not for hunting, my bow is alot louder with the fast flight. For the amount of shooting I do I found the b-50 did stretch an inch if not watched often. Good luck!
All of my bows have B-50. Love it!

I do. I may get brave and try B-55.
B50 here
I use it. B-50 still makes a bow shoot better than I can shoot it.
Dacron makes great Boot laces. :biglaugh:
You won't find it on my bows, even my self bows have DF97.
Yeap I love B50. I use it to tie string nocks and silencers on my Ultra Cam string!
Only on my old Bear's.
I use it on both of my bows, a longbow and a recurve.
What Orion said, the new materials are quicker, quieter and once settled no more strecth, B-50 stretches forever! I also have found that if you properly prepare an older non-FF bow you can shoot it on them as well. Shawn
Hmmm, I keep reading that B50 just keeps on stretching, but after 50 years of archery I have yet to see that. I must make really great strings! :goldtooth:
B-50 on my old bears and Howard Hill that was built in 1977. 450+ on my Super Shrew.
I use it on my Browning Wasp and on my kids'(all teenagers now) bows. I prefer D10 on my Kanati though.
lot of hype about stretching, mine don't and i'm in the 65-75# range, all my bows have it, i went through a few spools of d97,it's good stuff, but for me the b50 is a better choice.
B50 on my bows may stretch and inch or more initially...but after that they stay consistent for years. I have a Jeffery Royal Hunter with B50 and that string is 6 years old and if I put the bow square on it will show 7.5 inches just like last year.
:)
I do on all my bows. (nut)
I tried FF a few years and went back to B50.
I saw zero benefit and actually shoot my bows better with B50. Don't know why, I just do.
I never did get used to the "DOINK" sound either.
I use B-50 and B-55 and also use modern skinny FF type strings.I find some bows shoot softer, quieter and more pleasant with B-50 or B-55.Others shoot better with the skinny FF strings.
I usually use 12 strands with B-50.
I got to admit I never had a problem with B50 constantly stretching either. After the intital stretch it just settled in. However after being a die hard B50 user for eons after I tried UC I became a believer in the newer materials. I first tried D97 and thought it sucked though. Just better all around preformance, quieter, less handshock etc etc with UC. I still use B50 but like I said it's for tying on string nocks silencers etc.
I don't use B50 on any of my bows. Nor do I drive on bias ply tires.
I use endless B50 strings. because I am thrifty ( my Wife says cheap) They are about 1/3 the cost of a fast flight Flemish string. even less if you make your own.
That's what I shoot on my Non-FF Silvertip
I shoot B50 on all my bows and so does my son.
I only use it on a couple of older vintage recurves, that I rarely shoot. But all my other bows will get a low stretch HMPE type string. The bows feel better and more solid, not springy or have handshock like with a dacron string.Just not a fan of dacron.
I use B55 on my older Bear RC's, but anything with modern, reinforced tips gets D97.
I use B50 on all my bows.
When I first make a string, I put it on the bow, lay the back on a carpeted surface, and apply pressure to the tips. This will stretch the string about an inch after I do this a couple of times.
Over the life of the string, I may adjust the length once or twice, but that's it.
To each his own, but because something is new, it is not necessarily better for me.
It works [B-50/B-55]......I have no issues with it and it is cheap compared to the others. It makes my bows almost silent and I have yet to see a reason to change. My old Bears need it as does my Silvertip ..........
An endless loop B50 string with 10 - 14 strand (depending on poundage) and few or no twists will perform very close to a Flemish fast flight and will have little to no creep.
B-50 on Hills. New stuff on newer type bows.
Mainly B-50 for me, but have owned a few bows that were much better behaved with the newer materials.
I have two classes of bows, the ones made from the 50s to early 70s which get B50 and the ones made within the last couple of years which get D97. ONce B50 is thoroughly stretched it stops stretching. It doesn't stretch forever.
