Title: I hate it when bows break
Post by: LongStick64 on March 13, 2013, 08:49:00 PM
Dang it my kit bow I finished last year made a loud crack when I was stringing her up. It was a Bamboo backed bow and the crack is not visible in the bamboo so might be in the core. Well no tears but a sad good bye, never got a chance to hunt with it, now I need to save up and build another one. So at least I get to look forward toward starting another one soon I hope.

Sorry for your loss.   :(   Ive had that happen with a few old vintage bows, its enough to make a grown man cry.

My condolences.I had one blow up on me once that hit me in the eye and made me look like Mike Tyson hit me.No one would believe me later that a bow got me and that it wasnt my wife.Good luck with the next one.

I also hate it when bows break! I have had 3 or 4 break over the years, and it is something you never get used to.

Sorry for your loss,

Bisch

I've only lost one and that was on the first day of shooting (the fourth shot) so there were no deep emtional ties.  Still a sad event.

No one likes to see a thing of beauty die needlessly.

I have had them break when on the tillering tree, and after being shot for a year or so.
It's always tough to see your work go down the drain.

I feel your pain. I brought home a bow my Dad made about 35 years ago and reworked the riser to fit my grip.  I then took some weight off the limbs so I could pull it and put snake skins on it.  It was a great looking bow and shot very well.  The intent was to make it my go to bow last season.  I had shot several thousand arrows through the bow and the week before the season opened last year, the bottom limb came apart on me.  I was saddened because I really wanted to take a deer with the bow my Dad had made and I spent so much effort refining it.  Dad will be 89 in May and I'm hoping he and I can make a replacement limb for the one that broke.  He still has the forms.
