Title: amg feathers stiff quill
Post by: mec lineman on March 10, 2013, 09:49:00 PM
I recently picked up a large quantity of amg parabolic feathers .I noticed the quills were very stiff, and the feathers had took a slight c shape.I use fletching tape and glue the ends, never had any problems.made up a batch of arrows with these new feathers and the tape doesn't seem strong enough to straighten the feathers up and hold. Anybody else had this trouble?

Where these feathers NEW or some old stock. I bought a large quanity of old feathers and the packaging suggested that some of them were over 30 years old.

I have never seen that, and all I have shot last few years are AMG. My feathers I have right now lay real flat. I have had may share of feathers pulling tape off, but more than one feather mfr. with that problem.  Not the AMG feather's fault. Just bad tape I guess.  Even then it was more a pulling of the helical out at the ends than lifting in the middle.

Never seen that in any AMG feathers and I probably sold thousands to customers and never had one complaint. AMG is all I use...Trueflight got pricey but they do have good quality also.

I use AMG's and haven't had any problems.  I use Duco over Krylon or Minwax wipe on poly for Douglas fir shafts.  I have also used Loc-tite super glue gel over wraps on carbon shafts with great results in the past.
