Title: It started with the generous people at Tradgang. A little more to the story.
Post by: buckeye_hunter on March 10, 2013, 09:04:00 PM
I want to publicly say thank you to all the guys that donated bows and arrows for the youth archery program I wanted to start at my church! Many of those who donated don't want their names listed. So, without naming names, I want them and everyone to see the what the generosity here at Trad Gang looks like in action.

Thank you! I know it took some time to develop, but we got it done. This weekend we had an event where I was generating interest for the archery group in addition to a Wild Game Dinner for the church. There are now loads of parents and kids that can't wait for our 1st official archery club meeting! There isn't anything like this for the kids to do in our area. Trad Gang made it happen and the kids will benefit!

Great job guys!    :clapper:

I hope you enjoy the pics..

Sweet, we are going something like that at my church. Are you doing just for fun or as a "Bible" study? We found a bible study from Center Shot Ministry if you happen to be looking for one.

Edited because I do a poor job of proof reading.

One of our Trad Gang sponsors offered free armguards for the kids today! The people on this website never cease to amaze me. The offer came out of nowhere and was totally unsolicited on my part! Trad Gang is really a great second home. Good folks here.

Chester,
I checked out the Centershot website. It looks good and I might be able to go that route.

God bless,
Charlie

Yeah they kids are having a lot of fun doing it, we have about 60 kids right now, it is a lot of work, but a whole lot of fun. We are finally getting them on the range after spring break.

I was fortunate to be a part of this event and Charlie did an outstanding job setting it up.  Was an honor to be a part of it and as Charlie said, nothing but true integrity from Tradgangers that I have dealt with.

Well... I was going to leave well enough alone, but another part of the story should be told here... Thanks Larry.

When people donated the bows, arrows and other items they might not have known the lasting effects of their giving. This event where the kids and others were able to shoot traditional bows and a few compounds was also a community outreach from our church to families.

Back during the Ohio Trad Deer Hunt this last fall, Larry came out to hunt with us. I didn't realize prior to the hunt that he was involved with Faith At Fulldraw. They have a television program and talk at Wild Game Dinners or other events.

Through the course of the Ohio Trad Deer Hunt Larry and I talked a good bit. I asked if they ever did any presentations at churches? As it so happened, His answer was yes they did that kind of thing. I had been looking for any opportunity to bring my passion for archery, hunting and God to families and kids. A presentation by Larry and his hunting partner with Faith At Fulldraw would give me the opportunity.

I had been talking at length with a friend from church. He is an outdoorsman and loves hunting and fishing as well. We had both been trying to come up with a way to get dads, kids and families involved at church and in the outdoors. We finally had our answer!

It seemed that God had dropped Larry and his ministry right in my lap when I wasn't sure how to get things going.

Fast forward 5 months or so. We have gathered all the food for a big dinner, door prizes are purchased, the bows that everyone donated are strung and ready to be shot, and the guys are ready to give their presentation.

Every is just finishing eating, so I introduce Larry and Dale. They give a great presentation on archery and how it relates to faith. After the talk and some give aways, 5 people indicate their desire to commit their life to God. The following day another guy committed his life to following Jesus as well.

Beyond that, many people were able to find a home for their outdoor passion. Others were just able to connect with their kids or wives in a meaningful way. Most of the kids just loved shooting the bows that had been donated!

I know some of you may not be religous and I understand that. I'm not trying to push anything on you or be offensive.

For those of you who donated bows, religous or not, I wanted you to know that you helped families and changed some other people's lives. I also want you to know that I will continue to invest in these kids and their families. The work and generosity will not be wasted. Even if it is just fun shooting bows and taking part in a positive activity. It will keep paying forward. Thank you for your generosity, it is changing families!

God Bless,
-Charlie
