Well after waiting for what seems like forever, my new bow is here!
I've owned a number of bows now but I just can't shoot any of them as good as the bows Mark Horne builds. This will make the 5th bow of his I've owned and it's beautiful. I wanted a one piece brush bow design. It has dark cocobolo veneers and a combination of cocobolo and gaboon in the handle. 62", 50@28 with carbon core limbs.
Here is the block of cocobolo we had been attempting to source forever. As you can see it's dark red with burl throughout.

Now for the finished product. I like a dark bow and this one fits the bill. I'm amazed at how few imperfections Mark was able to get in the glass too.

I don't want to overwhelm with pictures but the cocobolo is very dark indoors but glows in the sunlight.
Can't wait to get it out and try it on a real pig!
What a beauty. They make some great bows.
Sweet looking bow
Very nice Zane! I'm glad you finally got it.
Wow! She's a beauty. Good luck with her.
Zane, she looks awesome!
That is a really nice looking bow! How does it feel when you shoot it?
Beautiful bow. I love the cocobolo.
Nice bow Zane!
It's always great to get your hands on a new stick.

Thanks guys. It shoots fast! Mark told me to hold off a day or two on putting a quiver on there to make sure it had fully cured. I like the slightly added weight so I think I'll shoot it even better then. I love the brush bow handle, fits me like a glove.
Bisch, now if I can land a boar like yours with it I'll be happy!
Great looking bow, I love how dark it is!
Great looking bow!, the wood combos are awesome.
Congrats
Great looking Bow!
Beautiful for sure!
Simply gorgeous, Nice choice on finish, really makes the wood pop. Enjoy.
She's a looker!
The rich darkness of the cocobolo in the riser shows off its classic lines....
Cheers from the Westcoast of Canada
Very nice!
Another long time builder that you don't see many of his bows in the classified.Must have some meaning.
Thanks 4 sharing
Sweet looking bow! On a side note, that is a nice armguard. Mind if I ask where a guy could get one?
That is a great looking bow, congrats!
Zane, you just have to get lucky on the pig. It was dark and I had no clue that pig was as big as he was till I walked up to him dead. I'm just glad I did not have to drag him very far to get to a road!

She's a beauty!!! I love my Horne Traditionist, it's the oldest bow I own and I can't seem to put her down.
Looks great. Very similar style to Dryads one piece.
Wow! Pretty bow for sure!
Very Nice !!! Mark Horne builds some great bows
Bill
I like it a lot. Very nice work and the lines are great. Everything about it just looks first class.
God bless, Steve
Awesome, you just gotta love the dark cocobolo.
He was the first bowyer I ever met. He and his wife were both great people. Great looking bow. I bet it will sling a stick!
Classy!
Thanks everyone. The armguard is from Mikes archery leather (M.A.L.).
Mark and Sandy are wonderful to visit with. Unfortunately, they also deal in Girl Scout cookies so we now have 5 boxes to make it through:)
That's funny! I ended up with 2 boxes myself when I went by there the other day!
Gosh Jeff, we were going to get one but my wife only had a 20. So she did the most logical thing...she just used the whole twenty on cookies:). Then we had the thin mint cheesecake at go go gumbo!
I hope for you she shoots as good as she looks! Congrats on a very very nice bow!
I like dark bows myself, and that Cocobolo is just amazing. Congrats an a beautifull bow.
Beautiful bow!
Mark certainly is a craftsman! I've owned several of his bows over the years and they are shooters! Best of luck with your new bow.
That's a beauty for sure!
Very nice! That dark cocobolo really appeals to my eye as well...Shawn
Beautiful bow! I hope she shoots at least half as good as she looks... then it'll be a great shooter!
