Will shooting three under with a bow that is tillered for three under be as quiet as a bow that is tillered for split finger while shooting split finger? Or is three under always noisier than split finger no matter what? Tried three under a little and like it except for the noise. Thinking of buying a new bow tilled for three under but not if it is going to be a lot noisier than split finger. If that is the case I will stick with split finger.
Thanks Wes
Even if tillered 3 under, I think it is still going to be a little louder.
With that said, its not impossible to shoot a quiet bow with 3 under. Heavy arrows, skinny strings, and bow hush has done the trick with my Toelke Whip, MOABs, and Northern Mist Classic.
My Thunderchild is tillered 3 under, but I don't feel it is any more quiet than my other longbows.

My Kanati is tillered for 3 under and that is how I shoot. I cant tell any difference shooting split or 3 under in noise. It is very quiet either way.
When I switched from split to 3 under it was initially louder. But I think some of that was due to getting used to shooting 3 under and the way it changes your release. I nock a little higher, shoot a heavier arrow, and put a few cat whiskers on the string, and my longbow is pretty quiet.
I think that's a good point. A smooth release when shooting 3 under is a little more critical for keeping the bow as quiet as possible than if shooting split.
My experience is that 3 under is always louder than split, no matter how the bow is tillered. I do have some quiet bows, but they are always seem quieter when shot split.
There is already a thread going covering this topic.

I wear hearing aids-all sound the same to me. If there is a solution, this is the place to find it!
I have to HHA longbows. One tillered split, the other 3U. I can't tell the difference. Now if I shoot my split bow 3U (even after raising the nock) it does seem noisier.
