Title: Brace Height
Post by: Nomadstalker on March 07, 2013, 08:13:00 PM
What is considered the standard for measuring brace height, string to deepest part of grip or string to belly of the arrow shelf?  Bit of a basic question, but I have seen it described both ways here.  Thanks...

Yes, both ways that you describe.  Ask the manufacturer of your bow where they measure brace to, if you are trying to tune your bow to their specifications and need a consistent reference.  Otherwise tune your bow according to your needs and measure your brace to your preference and then be consistent for your own reference.  I have always just measured to the belly side of my shelf.

Hope this helps.

The standard is the deepest part of the grip. I would recommend staying with this standard.

Thanks!

Yep.  Deepest part of the grip.  And for most recurves of 58" to 62" a good starting point is 1/8th of the AMO length.
