hey guys just wondering which is the best end to trim in order to stiffen it?
I would cut the smaller (nock) end. Cane is naturally tapered so diameter of the individual shaft is more important to spine than shaft length. Leave them long while heat straightening. Depending on where the nodes are located will also help determine where to cut. I would also glue a short hardwood footing (dowel rod) in both ends. May have to use 2 diff size dowels. Once you find a shaft that flies good try to duplicate it by cutting the next shaft out of a section of cane with the same point and nock diameters.
