Title: Maddog recurves
Post by: johnnyk71 on March 06, 2013, 11:14:00 AM
i have the mid-size longbow that i got from the classifieds. it's 51# @ 28", and 58" long. great bow, and thumps for its size. it's a little small for my 28" draw  (i know that it's designed for smaller folks/shorter draws mostly). i know Mike makes excellent kids' bows and longbows as well, and will be ordering a pup soon for my son.

what i'd like to hear is some feedback, and to see some pictures, of Maddog retro recurves. haven't heard/read too much from those that shoot this one. i'm sure they're as great as his other bows, but would love to hear from you guys!

The Retro is one of my favorite bows! The one I have has a hard rock maple riser and generally I not a huge fan of light colored risers, but I really like this one with its black glass and horn tips

Smooth, super light, no hand shock and really flings an arrow! This is by far my flattest shooting bow and on top of that it's whisper quiet  :archer2:  I'll see if I can get some pics posted, if you get one you won't be disappointed!

I have his 63" 55#@28" Mountaineer and really like it alot. It thumps the target. My Retro should be here the first part of May. Mike is a super nice guy to deal with and explain stuff too, since I'm a newbie to trad.

The patch of black on the grip is a piece of 3M traction tape cut to fit the contour of the grip for a little extra traction. The string is an 8 strand FF string with wool yarn wrapped at each end. The bow is whisper quiet!
