Title: Grayling Bear Bow question
Post by: Akhutr on March 05, 2013, 01:46:00 AM
I picked up 2 Bear bows.
This one is marked Bear Glass-Powered Grizzly on the top limb.
Bear Archery Company Grayling, Michigan, U.S. Pat's. 2.423.765 2.613.660, 2.665.678, Canada 1953 is on the bottom limb.
Appears to be a gold colored coin with a Bear on it. The glass is brown.
Written just below the grip on the left side is 5P36XX, 58" 50#.

Could anyone give me some historical information on this bow. Date of manufacture for example.

Thanks,
Al

Just out of curiosity, what model was the other bow?

The other is a "Bear Glass Powered Grizzly".
Bear Archery Inc. Gainesville, Florida U.S. PAT. 2.842.113.
The coin says "Fred Bear bow hunting equipment co." and has a portrait of Fred Bear.
It's 50# @ 28.
Another member on the forum was kind enough to provide me with a link dating it to 1998-2000 I believe.

Thanks for your help. It looks like this one is 1965.

Answered you on another site but your Grayling bow would be a 1965.

Yep, a 1965 and should be zebrawood, and one of the best looking, best shooting Grizzlies they made.
