I would like to know if anyone has had any success adding weight to lower-weight heads. I have glue-ons that I like, which are lighter than I want to use...I have tried woody-weights, and they solve the weight issue, but I don't appreciate the weak-point they seem to create, if you know what I mean...I was thinking of adding a small fishing sinker into the ferrule of the BH just before glueing it on (and cutting just enough off the tapered end of the shaft to accomodate the sinker)...has anyone tried anything like that? I don't know if you'll like this idea or not, but a few years back my friend Chris Ward was modifying woodsmans by pouring lead into the nose of the ferrule. He would weigh the lead and then melt it with a torch and pour the lead in the broadhead. He did a good job too. It turned the 125gr. head into a 160gr. head and they spun perfectly.
I have used small sinkers inside steel adapters before Just make sure that you get epoxy all all of them prior to putting them inside adapter. If not you will get a little rattling sound from them.
Solder.

It can be done, but it takes a good bit of your ferrule length to make much difference in weight. I tried #9 bird shot and melted lead. Both worked, but I didn't like the lost ferrule/shaft taper length. In the end, it turned out best to buy heavier heads. I have also drilled the end of the shaft and inserted a length of lead wire. I liked that much better than filling the ferrule.

I have not done it myself but have heard of what Dendy Cromer has done above. I've actually heard of using #2 lead shot from shot shells, if you can still find them and your increments would be easy i.e. 3 shot pieces per BH, etc.
Fishing split shots, melted and poured into a mildly heated ferrule would likely be my choice.
Man...you collect BH's, just shoot a heavier head! What weight do you want, 200 grns. + ? Lets trade something or I'll give you something heavier :) I have a bunch of 190 RW Grizzly's.
