Traded a few PM's with Surewood Steve before my surgery and last Thursday, sent out payment. The shafts arrived this past Wed.
They are some of the finest shafts I have seen. Beautiful grain and straight. Told Steve I was looking for a finished arrow weight between 530-540. Plan on using these from my 52# Fedora.
Steve told me I would be close with the lot he chose. Tapered 10" on the nock end, Steve also cut them 28.5" and tapered the point end. The 28.5" are to the end of the point taper and that's exactly what they measured.
I weighed all shafts..3 @ 380 grains, 2/382, 5/384 and 2/386. Twelve grains for my nock, 135 gr 2 blade Zwickey Delta and I'm roughly at 529-533 grains minus the sealer and crown dipping. I'm right where I want to be. These will scream from the Fedora.
Would highly recommend these shafts and Steve is a
great guy to deal with.
I'm getting and itch to do some woodies again....this ain't helping. :help:
Surewood shafts are fantastic and so is the customer service.
i talked with steve a couple weeks ago. We discussed what i needed. He put them in the mail the very next morning. I got them a couple days later and my payment hadn't even reached him yet. The shafts are EXACTLY what i wanted and the service was incredible. ya know how a lot of people try to rush you off the phone? Not this guy- Very patient and very helpful. Just an awesome xperience all around.
I will second Steve being helpful, great guy to deal with I just ordered 3 dozen from him. First wood arrows I have made and he was very helpful in helping me choose what I needed.
Sounds like the deal. Hey how is that shoulder doing in re-hab? Lot of pain?
Billy
Surewood shafts are great, and so are the guys who make them!

Definitely second that. Steve took the time to walk me through making my first set of woodies. Some of the best customer service I've experienced.
Excellent shafts. I have a set I finished all within 6g of mass weight. Straight, nice grain, very little straightening was required. Good, sturdy shafts. Got the last batch tail tapered and it was worth it.
...just finshed cresting mine, they are really fun to work with, so straight and consistent! Will be ordering more for sure!
Kris
Surewoods are labeled quality by everyone who uses them,me included. I shoot nothing but wood, and Surewoods will be my next order.
Great shafts for sure! I'm in the process of making up 2 dozen right now.
Been shootin Surewoods for a couple years now...won't shoot anything else.
Thanks for all the good words, we just try to send out an arrow shaft that we would all shoot out of our own bows. We ask ourselves would I shoot this arrow and if the answer is no we REJECT it. With all the good compliments you guys are giving me my partners are going hassle me, but keep the orders coming and I'll handle them. Thanks Surewood Steve.
They'll heckle you anyways Steve! Might as well have all the compliments to back ya :)
"hassle you"...that is just part of true friendship! Wouldn't want you to feel ignored... :biglaugh:
I can feel the love all over me!!!!
Got mine already, I am started to make them up now, nothing fancy but hope they come out nice, baby blue crown dip, 3 baby blue 5" shields and a white nock and a light maple stain! Thanks Steve! Shawn
I just received 3 dozen Surewood shafts a couple of weeks ago. These were my first experience with doug fir. I'm a long time cedar shooter but have to say the Surewood fir shafts were excellent. The ones I've worked with so far were straight, tight grained, and took stain well. I've only done 4 but they're flying great. I have to agree, Surewood Steve will do you right.
Also have to give a shout to Snag for his Surewood finished arrows. I just picked up a dozen already finished for a differnt bow. I love building my own arrows but once in a while I have to try someone elses. He does some very fine work.
Shawn you read my mind. I'm turning these into a copy of 3 dz Forgewoods I had back in the early 70's. Fully dipped Sky(powder)Blue.
I'm going to put a full length powder blue stain the entire shaft, all white 5" parabolic feathers and white nock. Other alternative, white cock feather, and 2 blue spliced on the end with Chartruese....I'm well stock on Hot Pink arrows.
Joe, I read a study done years ago and Paul Brunner commented on it at the time. Baby Blue is one of the easiest colors to pick out by the human eye when put in an outdoor(wooded) setting. Shawn
Surewood shafts are about as good as it gets.
We are thrilled to carry them, and with our committment to value, we are also pleased to know we offer our customers the lowest delivered price of any Surewood vendor we're aware of.
Surewoods from Braveheart are a win-win! :jumper:

JOE!! Tell me it ain't so! Tell me that when your shoulder is healed that you are not going to continue shooting Bows from the other side of the force ???!!!?? LOL. :biglaugh:
ROFF Serg...the plan is shooting 2117's off the Kempf longbow, Superceeders off the Groves and these off "Lefty". Not sure what the fall will bring and what this shoulder can handle.
Wilderness Custom Arrows is happy to offer Surewood Shafts at competitive prices + will cut to length, nock taper, point taper, back taper, barrel taper... custom shafts.
