Hey gang,
When hunting turkey, do you find that the camp patter you use makes much a difference, or is it more just completely concealing movement that matters?
How about with camp patterns on hunting blinds? Would, for example, a predator grey pattern on a blind work if it were to conceal movements of the hunter?
Let me know your thoughts, please!
Where's that epic pic of Gary Lodgeson (sp?) from last year.
Prettiest turkey pic I've seen, and I believe he wore nothing but earth tones and plaid
Turkeys see both color and movement very well. I think it really helps to match your camo to the surroundings. Around here they just ignore the blind for the mist part so I don't think the pattern is as much if a concern
predator green. nothing else to say
predator green
Plaid, earth tones and jeans might get it done for whitetails, but not in the Turkey woods. Movement is still the most critical. But when you get in a stare down with either a hen or gobbler you better have the right camo pattern or show is over. Predator Green Deception and Spring Green is the Best! Blind camo does not matter. Just make sure you are not silohuetted in the blind.
If outside a blind ... leafy wear
inside a blind .... black
blind patterns, I like Predator green
I have also used camo fabric sold by the yard and just spread it between two trees.
I think keeping movement down and a pattern or color that matches your surroundings is what matters. I have shot many turkeys sitting at the base of a tree or in brush at the edges of fields and deep in the woods.
I black out in a blind.
X2 Bowwild God bless
ASAT works everywhere. In a blind, wear black. Turkeys only see in 2 dimensions so their eyes focus on the front of the blind anyway, you can get away with a little more sitting in a blind than you can outside of one. My ASAT leafy suit covers it all outside of a blind.
Thanks gang. I may not have been clear in my question. How important is the camo pattern of the blind itself. For example, on the Hidden Hunter blinds, the predator grey camo pattern would work great for fall hunting. At the price of those blinds, it would be tough to own more than one. Will the predator grey work for spring turkeys as well, or is it just asking for difficulty?
turkeys are stupid when it comes to blinds and I say that in meaning it matters not what camouflage pattern it is covered in. Whitetails will avoid a blind like the plague until they get accustomed to it, a turkey will walk right by one like it isn't even there. Just don't make any noise or undue movement and you will be fine.
A Blind in Predator Grey would work fine for Turkey in Spring or Fall.
