Does anyone know of any outfitters who do drop camps and actually try to put you in areas with game and not just out of the way of their full service clients lol.
In colorado and wyoming.

I've got a drop camp hunt booked with Full Draw Outfitters for this season 8/31-9/4. This will be my first time with an outfitter as we have always done DIY wilderness area hunts. We thought we would try something different and see how it goes :dunno: ! Fred Eichler was the guest speaker at our annual banquet last year and after visiting with him about his outfitting business it was a no brainer for us. If his staff/guides have a quarter of the energy he has there's no doubt in my mind it'll be up to us whether we succeed or not! Lazy is not in his vocabulary! I'll be sure to let you know how we do.

I would suggest finding an outfitter who does not do any guided hunts. Takes away the incentive to short shrift the drop camp hunter.
Honestly, you can probably do yourself as well as any drop camp outfitter by doing it on your own.
We do go diy mostly montery. But I'm getting older and don't own horses.lol
I did a drop camp as well as base camp some years back with Larry Amos of Winterhawk Outfitters. His drop camps are in the Flattops Wilderness area. Not a place for really big bulls but there are plenty of elk in the area. The Flattops gets hunted pretty hard but Larry packs you in far enough away from road hunter and all but the toughest back packers. Top notch outfitter and very professional. Larry has a website that you can google.
