So a few weeks back my hunting buddy Jim and I paid a visit to Vince at his shop in Conifer, CO. Vince is such a great guy and bowyer and after inspecting his new Sparrowhawk bow, I just felt the need to get one ordered.
We took the time to select the exact wood for the riser and limbs and got everything just the way I wanted it.
Vince sent me a couple pics the other night of his progress. It is exciting, so I thought I would share.
Here are the riser components all cut and laid out for glueing. The riser is Ziricote with zebra wood flare accented with a strip of white glass on either side of the flare.

Here is the riser all glued up.

And here is the riser, dry, and cut ready to have the limbs attached.

Nice...Love my Sparrowhawk.
The bow is going to be a 1 piece Sparrowhawk, 62" long and 55#s at 28" draw. The limbs will be bamboo, which Vince and I hand selected from his supply. They are absolutely beautiful and I can't wait to see them with this riser combination.
P.S. I think I got these pictures edited to 640 wide, if not, please let me know.
Gonna be pretty for sure !
Cant wait to see it finished!
Thats going to be a nice one.
Now that's a good wood combination right there...The dark Ziricote against the lighter Zebra wood..I cann't wait to see this finished project cause I can tell it's going to be a beuty...
I can't wait either, but as I told Vince, I'm not in any hurry, and getting a few pics just makes it that much more exciting. As this develops I'll share the progress here with you all.
Vince is moving right along on my Mohawk, check out today's updated pictures.

Next two show off the bamboo limbs. These veneers have nice streaking in them which should look beautiful when complete.

You lucky rascal! After months of research and shooting bows, I finally decided on a Mohawk and wouldn't you know it, Vince isn't taking any new orders right now. Hopefully, I can get one before next deer season. Ironically, I was thinking about a riser similar to yours. It looks great! I can't wait to see the finished product.
Enjoy. Vince is a fine guy.
Limbs are now attached and time to begin shaping the riser.

Riser now taking shape. Vince is doing a dished grip for me to match another bow handle I have and really like. LOOKING GOOD!

Limbs are cut to length and the tips are built. Closing in on the finish work now.

I hope this is all working ok. I change the size in photobucket to 480 wide by 360 tall, but they seem to post larger everytime I past the image link in Tradgang.
Nice!!! I don't ever think I saw a riser of Zircote and Zebrawood. That is a great combination!
Heard from Vince that my Sparrowhawk is done and will be shipped out today. Can't wait to see it!
It will be great love mine.
You will love it. I have 2 regular Mohawks and now a new to me Sparrowhawk from a trade. Great bows!!!
Here it is guys! Love it! The Ziricote is a rich, dark chocolate brown color, and the bamboo is some of the prettiest I've every seen.
Very, very happy with this bow! Thanks Vince!

Reverse side of the riser.
By the way, I really like the dished grip Vince put on this one for me.

I understand it is a bit difficult to make out, but check out the coloration of these bamboo limbs.

Had a chance to fling a few arrows through my new Mohawk, Sparrowhawk this weekend and what a treat that was! Very smooth, seemed quite quick, and was silent even without silencers on the string yet.
Love it, THANKS VINCE!
Looks like a great bow.
COOL  Congrats on your new bow :) Vince makes some fine looking and shooting bows :archer2:
Its just not right to post pics of a bow that nice. God loves you, Steve
Nice!!
