Title: arrow set up
Post by: dad on February 27, 2013, 11:22:00 AM
I have a Bob Lee recurve comming that is 38#@28 this will only be used for target and 3-D. What alum arrow would you use? Would the ICS Bowhunter shafts work in  500 [7.3 gpi]? My draw is 28" and the arrows might be cut to 29"The bow is cut to center.

Just taking a guess but I think beman .500s would be fine at 29". you'd need to add some tip weight I would imaging though. You might do better with a .600 spine arrow to keep the weight down a bit more. Check out stu miller's spine calculator ... good starting point.

I would guess that 500s may be too stiff. I shoot them from my Mohawk Longbow @ 47lb and 29.5inch shafts with 250 up front.

500s would be way to stiff.
