Title: Bear Grizzly brace height
Post by: DEP on February 27, 2013, 10:00:00 AM
I ordered a 52" string for my 56" Grizzly. The string is 51.5 so my brace height is 9 inches.  Will a new 14 strand B50 string stretch any?  Does anyone shoot a Grizzly at 9 inches?

A B50 should stretch some.  New flemish strings I make from B50 will stretch 1/2" or more.  My Grizzly shoots pretty good with an 8 1/4" brace height.  Mine is the longer 58" model.

That seems high Del my 1970 Grizzly shots nice at 7 and 3/4 and even 8 inches will shoot well but 9 seems a little much. But bows as individuals are a fuuny thing, what works for one is not the case for others...Paul

Yep, 9" is a bit much. Like Paul, my '70 grizzly likes around 8". Don't know if you will get an inch of stretch. Leave it strung for a few days while shooting and see. Mike

B-50 Will stretch, I bet if you shoot it a bit and leave it strung a few days you will get close to an inch out of it.

I have a 58" Griz that likes about a 8.5" brace height.  You will get a little bit of streatch out of that string if it's new.

You may be able to take a few twists out of it to lengthen it a little, just make sure not to untwist too much.  A pic of the string would help to determine if you can untwist it a little.
