I'm about to order my first test pack,I've been shooting alum. and carbon. But not any more I'm switching to wood,Here is my first couple questions of I'm sure tons,do I shoot the test arrows bare shaft or with feathers, full length or trimmed?I've a 30in draw and been using a 31in arrow. Thanks Burt
I just got a test pack from Surewood. I have a Miller Old Tom 55#@27" I tried 4 of each 40-45#, 45-50# and 50-55# Douglas Fir. The 50-55# cut to 29" flew perfect bare shaft and fletched. Surewood, and there products are top shelf and hard to beat.
If you ask 10 guys this question, your probably gonna get 10 different answers.
Here is mine...I shoot everything full length, and never bare shaft. I shoot as if I'm hunting, and that means fletched. If I need to stiffen my arrow up, I start cutting (easier to take off then to add it back on, although it can be done). With your 30" draw, I would leave the length alone, fletch them and let em fly
Feathers with a brodhead should tell you what you need to know.
Thanks guys, that's the way I'm thinking. Burt
