Wanting to do some cresting in my gold tips. Don't want to crown dip them, just some crests. Got testors paint from hobby shop and the stuff is not thick at all. Shook it ,stirred it, and have 10$ brush so I would have thought I was good . I was hoping that the black orange or white would be solid not translucent in GT trad arrows. Has anyone had this problem. I prepped with acetone and dried. Thanks
Dave
Testors has what seems like too many "styles" of paints to choose from. My experience with Testors is that some of the "brighter" colors, or those with "metal flake" in them, are way too thin and aren't good for cresting at all.
When using just the "regular" colors.....no problems at all. I've used the regular black, orange, etc. with no problems on GT Trad shafts.
Not sure if this helps or not.....maybe just more paint on the brush?? Bad batch of paint?
Don't give up!
I always use a base color of white even when your doing regular cresting with out crown dipping.
Yea I will try some more paint but it looks watery already like I thinned it. Is will keep trying
Stick with the basic enamel colors and it shoud turn out ok. I have been cheating on the crown dip and use the spray enamel paint from testors. Usually can lay down a quick coat of white and the then crest on top of that. So far it has worked pretty good for me
I had an awful problem with the regular Testors orange, about drove me nuts, it was so dull.
