Title: New BAMA bow
Post by: pdk25 on February 24, 2013, 01:12:00 PM
Some pictures of my new BAMA bow longbow, alongside my Howard Hill Rogue. I have previously weighed the Rogue at 95# @ 29", but on Nate's Scale it was 90# @ 28". The BAMA bow came out at 102# @ 29", but Nate marked it 100# because he thought that it might settle in at that weight. Bedded zebrawood riser, bamboo lams, zebrawood tips/overlays, and brown glass. Nate mimicked the grip from my Stewart slammer for this bow, but the pics don't do it justice. Very comfortable. Can't believe how much thicker the tips are on the BAMA bow. Don't know if this is because the fiberglass on the back and belly seem fairly thin. Pretty nice shooting bow, although I have to work to get it back all the way to my draw, which is just a hair over 29". Great training bow.

For now I am using GT big game 100+ arrows with brass inserts and 300 grain tips.  Total arrow weight only around 900 grains.  Can't remember if I had to glue anything to the brass insert to up the weight.  It will be a work in progress.  Oh, and it isn't easy for me yet, but it sure makes the Rogue seem easy.  I should get used to it in a few months.

I bought a Bama a couple years ago from Nate, really nice smooth quite bow he does good work, but I think he built this one backwards. If you send it back he can fix that for you.   :D   Really nice. Enjoy!

I am the proud owner of the first bow Nate built in the 100# class.
It is a 65", 102#@28 Hunter. I have a 29" draw.

I love the way it shoots, Mostly use it as an exercise bow but originally bought to use as my gator hunting bow.
Have shot 3 hogs to date with this bow, Shields are NOT a problem!
Hope to be chasing gators with it in the up coming season.

My Bama looks pretty much identical to yours, except Nate put my shelf on the reverse side. Where it belongs for those of us which aren't wrong handed.

I would have to brace the bow with my feet and pull back with both arms to shoot that one.

Pretty bow though.

There was a time that was true for me, too. It just takes time and effort.

I would love to shoot a 85-100 lb bow once just to feel it

Very nice as usual from Ole Nate, it would take 2 of my Bama's to equal that #age!

Yeah, but they pull pretty smooth.  70" long and it doesn't have alot of preload.

Hal, that is great that you have some kills under your belt with that heavy beast of yours.  I bet Nate would love some kill shots with that thing.  If I thought that I could have handled 65" for length at 29" I would have done it.  That length would be a lot more hospitable in the woods than 70".  This is my heaviest bow so far.  Maybe I can go shorter with the next one after this gets a little easier.

I don't think I could run my neck out far enough to get 100#s back to my anchor point. Nice looking bow.
