After the blizzard quit this afternoon I went out looking for a big dog to try and put a stalk on. No luck there but I did see a couple of mulie does up on the hill acting strange so started glassing the sage brush around them. Finally spotted the mulie's problem, not one but two of these critters. Figure it must have been a female in heat and her lover. Pretty cool stuff...

Nothing but open country tween us so I just sat and watched them till they wandered of into the trees. Maybe next time.
Never a dull moment in Montana....
Great pics, thanks for sharing.
Yeah, that's cool. And to see two is even better.
Was the grandbaby (or grandma) running you outta the house?? And where's that Lizzy when you need her?...
Awesome pics!!

That's a big lion. Awesome pictures.
We have mountain lions on our Wyoming property, but almost never see them. They see us. Great pictures.
VERY COOL PICS!!
Very cool. What an animal!
I spend nearly all my spare time in the woods and have never seen a lion. thanks for sharing.
Doug, Doug, Doug....
See, if you'd have had a bag of Meow Mix with you to shake...they'd both likely run right in!
I, like others, never saw one, but once in MT I walked a hillside irrigation canal bank in the snow and when I came back that way, there were kitty tracks on top mine...so who was the hunter???
Nice pictures! There's a lot of power in one of those cats!

Awesome doug! Montana , my absolutely favourite place to vist! Great scenery, wildlife, and people. i would personally like to live in the northwest part; Kalispell, columbia falls, whitefish....

Cool! A rare sighting for sure.
Great story! :clapper: I really would like to skin one with my bighorn handled skinner!
I'm not sure which one I'm more jealous of, You being able to watch to 2 CATS put a sneak on some unsuspecting does or YOU being able to put a sneak on some unsuspecting does this late in February! Our seasons have been done since the end of December. Very cool pics! :bigsmyl:

One of these days........................
Cool pictures!
That is very cool!
Doug you should have tied a Pork Chop around your neck so the Kitty would come play with you!
Benjy
very cool
Thanks guys, seems like I see two to four of em a year when out in the hills. The season runs till mid April as long as the quota doesn't fill. Really wanted to get back up there this morning and look for tracks/kills but had Grandbaby duty so had to stay in the house and watch cartoons...
Yep it was worth it... :bigsmyl:
I have a dog or two that would love to come help you out Doug ha ha.
Whoa, very cool! That's a rare sight to see! Thanks for posting the pictures, Doug.
Great pics, thanks for sharing. Somewhere along the way over the past years, I stopped carrying a camera except for game taken and friends, family etc. I am going to try to remember to bring one with again. The photo's are my best remembrances of time well spent in the woods.
Not nearly as cool as yours, but I had a pair of timber wolves run within 100 yards a few years ago while deer hunting. Would have been a pretty good snapshot also.
Very cool pics. Just another reason to dream of being back in Montana.
Bring em on up Randy although they'd have to play well with wolves. Got probably five times as many wolves as lions. And these wolves are proven dog killers...
Amazing pictures!

That's pretty awesome! Cool Stuff
Great pictures Doug, looks cold up your way. :D
I really shake my head when I find a spot in the snow where a lion beds down for a nap in the dead of winter. Wished I had a furnace that worked that good. :campfire:
I hear ya Robin but check out the rolls of insulation on that Tom. How many deer/elk did it take over the last year to do that?
That's a cool experience,thanks for sharing.
Great pics Doug, two as one time great.
Cool pix, thanx for sharing....
Curious though, when you say "looking for a big dog to try and put a stalk on", are you talking about a coyote, wolf, or what?
Great pics, my hounds would scream that track!
You usually see 2 to 4 a year? Man oh man, I have been hunting CO since I was a pup and have NEVER seen a live mountain lion! There are plenty of them there too.
I've heard of people going their entire lives living in cat country and never seeing one. That is just way cool!
Just lucky I guess guys, that and spending a whole bunch of time where they are.
Yea wolves for sure zbone....
