My son calls me at the office and tells me I got a bow in the mail. I've got nothing ordered I thought...A few minutes later my son called back, by now he has it opened and strung up. My son said it was a beautiful all wood longbow, osage backed with bamboo. The note and address was from a DR. GOOSE. The note said, "This bow will cost you $999.99 and 9.99 for shipping unless you shoot a deer with it and send me a photo...than it's FREE! I only know when guy "goofy" enough to use the name Dr. Goose!
I met Ken Swann on Trad Gang 5 years ago, swapped a few bows here and there and kept in touch, watching each others kids group up from email pictures. He's one of those friends you wished lived closer because he'd make a fantastic hunting buddy.
I'd known Ken was making bows for fun but I never realized he was this good! Here's a few photos of my "kind of free bow". It's 40lbs at my draw and shot a 500 grain arrow 150 fps. What an absolute "sweetheart" and a blast to shoot!
Ken...my son and I can't thank you enough!!!!

Both appear to be keepers to me. The bow and the friendship.
Very nice bow!!!
Sure hope you get a deer!!
Geeze Tim, you are a fortunate man. That is awesome, what a friend!
Brent

Jerry
WOW!
I've been shooting traditional bows for 20 years and this is my first all wood bow...laminated without glass. I'm really impressed with how well is shoots and smooth in the hand following the release. I need to try to make one of these myself!
Hey Jerry....I'm sure gonna try. We've got a few properites that are crawling with doe so I'm sure I'll have the opportunity. I'll be sure to post a picture.
Great bow! Everybody needs friends like that. :notworthy:
That boy is something else, ole Ken is!
He donated a beautiful oak entertainment cabinet when he thought or was moving to AZ or thereabouts and put it up for the St.Jude Auction.
He built the thing himself. I got it for a rediculous price. He is quite talented with woodworking so it's not suprising he go the bow thing down well!!!
Tim, Where is he hanging his hat now? Let me know... , please. :)
it can only happen on tradgang see i keep telling everyone this is one big happy family  :campfire: great friend eh.

The doc (whose wife is unbelievably still with him after 18 years) says he hopes you both enjoy it, Tim, and wishes he had other colors for string material.
Sent you a PM, Dave.
I have no doubt that you can make meat with the bow. I have some 45# spine woodies if you need them.
Bill
You know Bill, it would be sacreligous to shoot aluminum or carbon...so yes I would appreciate a few nice lightly spined wood shafts for this bow...see what you can dig up for me!
Did you sell that Tulip bow? or decide to keep it?
Sacreligous......did I spell that right?????
