Title: Accuracy of arrow charts?
Post by: Big Lefty on February 20, 2013, 10:37:00 PM
Sorry if this has been posted before, I'm unable to search from my phone.  I'm needing to order new arrows.  I've read on here before, that some think the Easton charts read stiff?

According to the charts,  I should be using a .300 spine carbon or a 2315/2317 aluminum.  Drawing 63# @ 29.5" and planning on 190 grain up front, plus the insert.  I'd like to leave the arrows long, as I'm wanting to try the Treesharks.

Do the charts sound close to my setup? Thanks in advance.

That sounds pretty close. .300-.340. I have 56#@28" longbow that I pull 29.5" so I am right around 60-61# myself. I have shot the GT 5575 and I tried a couple of the .300 and .340 arrows in the last few days it depends on how they are set up.

I recommend posting a question like you did. Those charts are always wrong for me. I have had alot of spine issues, and the TradGangers here always have "hands-on" experience to draw from. My A&H shoots a .340 spine
My Shrew shoots 2018's and .400 carbons(.200head)
and my Widow shoots the same as the Shrew.
My Centaur NEEDS a .300-.340 Carbon.

There are alot of difference's. I would say what type of bow your shooting as well. rat'

Thanks guys.  I'll check out Stu's calculator tonight.  I'm shooting a Stalker recurve.

I think those charts are geared around target bows and compounds that are cut past center and have an arrow rest instead of being shot off the shelf.

Always thought them to be a little on the stiff side, especially Easton.

Yeah, I think Easton chart reads too stiff also, my setup is good in practice but weak according to the chart.  Thank you Ray Lyon, (the arrow selection oracle).
